Yesterday I received an email from a client who is
pregnant, asking if she should still eat the Great Taste No
Pain way during her pregnancy.
Not only SHOULD she, but it's by far the BEST way to eat
during pregnancy. Here's why.
(By the way, if you're a man or a woman who's not
pregnant, this is for you, too)
From the moment of conception when that baby is smaller
than pinpoint, he or she is depending on Mom's nutrients
for proper growth and development.
Eating lots of alkaline-rich foods ensures that you are
taking in a good variety of nutrients for your tiny tot
(and yourself), and correctly combining your meals will
maximize the nutrients you're able to absorb from your
foods and pass on to the baby.
As baby grows, he or she starts putting pressure on Mom's
stomach and other organs and sapping up even more of her
nutrients and fluids. This can lead to heartburn and
constipation.
If you combine your foods the Great Taste No Pain way, you
keep stomach acid way down. Less acid means less or no
heartburn.
And when your meals are correctly combined, they're
digested better and they move along out of the stomach and
through the intestines easier. That means less or no
constipation.
One of the most common complaints during pregnancy,
especially in the first three months and the last month, is
low energy.
When you eat how I teach in Great Taste No Pain, your
stomach uses a minimal amount of energy to digest your
foods, leaving tons more for you and the little "load"
you're carrying.
Probably the biggest concern for women during pregnancy is
putting on weight. Far too many women pack on way too many
pounds. That's typically because they either: 1) Use
pregnancy as an excuse to eat like a cow; or 2) Feel hungry
constantly.
Great Taste No Pain shows you how to prepare and eat easy,
delicious meals until you're comfortably full. And since
your body is nourished, your hunger signal won't be
triggered until you (and the baby) truly need more food.
Less food means less weight gain.
I'm a living example of this. I gained 12 pounds during
my pregnancy with my son. He was born healthy and weighed
6 pounds 2 ounces. And by the way, I delivered him breech
(butt first). I couldn't have done that if I had gained a
bunch of weight. Within 2 weeks I was wearing my size 2
shorts again.
So, if you're pregnant (or even if you're not), Great
Taste No Pain is the BEST way to eat for you.
