The best anti-depressant

Hello my friend:

Today I was reading an article about depression and got
completely disgusted...

...Not about depression itself.  I believe depression is
very real and devastating to the people who suffer from it.

What disgusted me was the total lack of information given
on how food creates depression.

The article I read (which was edited by a doctor) went on
for 3 pages about therapies and of course all the various
drugs that are used to treat depression.

Toward the end of the article was a list of suggested
things to do to help with depression, and at the bottom was
"eat a balanced diet."

Can you tell me what a balanced diet is?  If you ask 10
different people that question, you'll get 10 different
answers.

Ask 10 different doctors that question and you'll get
whatever answers the drug companies are suggesting they
give at that time.

And the kicker is that the few guidelines for a balanced
diet they gave in the article were either vague ("eat low
fat-foods") or suggested horrible food combinations that
would result in excess acid production and poor digestion.

Tell me, how can you feel better emotionally when your gut
is killing you, you're burping up fiery acid or you're
sitting on the toilet for hours with constipation?

Following such bad advice as they give would have a
snowball effect too.  Having too much acid in the body
(acidosis) can cause cardiovascular problems, joint pain,
headaches, arthritis, high blood pressure, obesity...all of
which would certainly worsen depression!

Nowhere in the article did it talk about good foods,
nutrients and depression.  For example:
* B-complex vitamins are essential to mental and emotional
health.  That includes vitamins B1, B3, B5, B6, B12 and
folic acid.
* Deficiencies of vitamin C can produce depression.
* Lacking certain minerals can cause depression.  These
include: magnesium, calcium, zinc, iron and potassium.

All of the above vitamins and minerals are found in real
foods.

But unless you eat real (not processed) foods in the
correct combinations, you can be certain your body isn't
even coming close to getting what it needs for good mental
health.  Plus any nutrients you might get in your foods are
obliterated from overproduction of acid.

And don't be fooled into thinking you're OK because you
take a multi-vitamin.  If your body is overrun with acid
from eating processed foods or poorly combined meals, it
can't even use or absorb your health-in-a-pill.  So all you
get is expensive pee from your 1-a-Day's.

Do your mind (and your body) a big favor.  Learn how to
eat real, delicious, nutritious foods in the right
combinations.  Ease and help prevent depression by
supplying what your mind needs to feel good and happy.
