I write to you a lot about eating real foods to get the
nutrients your body needs to stay healthy and lose excess
pounds.
Because nature provides what our bodies require without
the need for scientific (chemical) intervention. Every
fruit, vegetable, lean meat and fish has its own blend of
vitamins and minerals that gives our bodies health benefits
that can't be had from a pill or processed food.
But there are a few "powerhouse" foods worth mentioning on
their own because of their outstanding health-giving
properties.
GARLIC
Why? Garlic is great because it widens the blood vessels,
helps reduce high blood pressure and strengthens the immune
system. The substance garlic excretes when squeezed
(allicin) is a natural antibiotic that kills bacteria and
intestinal parasites.
Plus, it contains potassium, amino acids (needed for the
body to make protein), vitamins B and C and zinc (which
helps balance the blood sugar--helpful for hypoglycemics).
Lots of stuff in one little white bulb, huh? No wonder it
could drive away Dracula.
SPINACH
Why? Spinach helps prevent atherosclerosis or thickening
and hardening of arteries. It also helps stabilize blood
sugar (very important for diabetics).
Spinach is loaded with flavonoid and carotenoid (plant
substances) that function as antioxidants and help fight
cancer. It's rich in Vitamins C, A and K (needed for
proper clotting of blood), calcium, potassium and iron.
Popeye knew what he was doing.
NUTS
Why? Walnuts, Brazil nuts and almonds are all tremendous
immune system enhancers.
Nuts should be eaten raw--not roasted. Roasting makes
them very acidic. If you seem to have trouble digesting
nuts, try eating them raw with some raw veggies or sprinkle
them on a tossed salad.
Or, you can make nut milk by blending 1/2 cup nuts
(almonds and cashews work well), 2 teaspoons honey and 2-
1/2 cups water in a blender. Strain, chill and enjoy.
BROCCOLI
Why? It contains phytochemicals (plant substances) that
kill cancer-causing toxins in the body. It also helps the
body produce enzymes that fight pain and inflammation.
The heck with Vioxx, Celebrex, Naproxen or Ibuprofen--just
eat your broccoli, and lots of it. If you eat like I teach
in Great Taste NO Pain, you can eat broccoli without pain
or excess gas.
MUSHROOMS
Why? They're high in B vitamins and selenium (a mineral
that helps the thyroid work properly). They boost the
body's immune system and antioxidants, and lower blood
pressure and insulin levels.
Whether you like them raw in a salad or lightly sautéed
with a steak, be sure to get your share of these little
health wonders.
The Great Taste No Pain system gives you over 100
scrumptious recipes for these and other health-enhancing
real foods, and teaches you how to eat them to get the
maximum nutrients and keep your stomach acid low.

To your health,
Sherry
PS: Now that spring is upon us, be sure to take advantage
of the fresh, locally-grown produce your grocery store is
offering, and spend the majority of your time and money in
the outer perimeter of the store (where the real foods
are). Your body will thank you.

Sherry:
I started your program 6 days ago and for the first couple
of days, I didn't really have that dramatic of an
improvement. However, by day 3 I had more energy that
evening after work than I've had in years. I felt great!
My esophagus has been so scarred by acid reflux that I get
food stuck in it and have had to go to the hospital to have
it removed several times. Now on day 5, the acid reflux
has subsided dramatically.
I have not had the problems with digestion and there has
been no constipation since day 3. I can't tell you how
nice it is to not be in extreme pain, just to have a bowel
movement.
And the recipes are out of this world, this is my kinda
way to eat!
I have been sharing your plan with my family, co-workers,
and my friends. I know that they all can benefit from it.
