The hiatal hernia - acid reflux connection

Hi my friend,

One of the questions I get asked frequently is, "I have
acid reflux due to a hiatal hernia.  Can Great Taste No
Pain help?"

My answer:  Can water help put out a forest fire?

I'll explain further in a moment, but first let's talk
about the hiatal hernia and acid reflux connection.

=====================================================
Here's what's going on when you have a hiatal hernia:
=====================================================

There's a wall of muscle in your abdomen called the
diaphragm that looks like an open umbrella above your
stomach.  The diaphragm has a little hole in it and that's
where your esophagus (food tube) passes through and
connects to the stomach.

A hiatal hernia is when the top section of your stomach
pushes up through that little hole in your diaphragm and
bulges out.

Since the stomach is bulging out where it doesn't belong,
the dam is weakened, so to speak.  That makes it easier for
undigested food and acid to leak back up into your
esophagus after eating.

And voila--you get heartburn, belching, chest pain and
nausea--all classic acid reflux symptoms.

Hiatal hernias occur when the muscle around that hole in
your diaphragm becomes weak.

Many things can weaken the muscle--severe coughing,
vomiting, pregnancy, straining (like you do when you are
constipated), lifting heavy objects and most significantly,
eating too much.

Yup--packing it away day in and day out literally makes
your stomach burst on through your diaphragm because it's
so stuffed and stretched beyond capacity.

Your stomach was designed to comfortably hold about a
liter (about 4 cups) of food in a meal.  So if you
regularly eat more than that, you're stretching your
stomach and practically begging for a hiatal hernia.

How Great Taste No Pain can help
================================

When you eat the way I teach in Great Taste No Pain, you
get the benefit of all the nutrients from your food because
they're not destroyed by overproduction of acid.

And when your body is nourished with nutrients, you don't
feel hungry until you truly need more food.  So you end up
eating less, and therefore are less likely to create a
hiatal hernia or aggravate an existing one.

When you eat badly combined meals, your food can sit in
your stomach for 8 hours or more, while the stomach
secretes acid over and over trying to digest it.  As this
is happening, the food isn't being digested like it should,
there's a ton of excess acid in your stomach and there's
nowhere for the food and acid to go except up, up, up.

And you get the three alarm acid reflux fire in your
chest.

Great Taste No Pain shows you how to correctly combine
your foods and eat mainly alkaline-rich foods to make
digestion easy, comfortable and keep stomach acid at a
minimum.

When you don't have overproduction of acid and food is
digested quickly and easily like it should be, it's much
less likely to come back up "over the dam" and into your
throat.

Simple common sense.

So if you have acid reflux symptoms due to a hiatal
hernia, don't think that somehow you're "different," or you
have a "disease" or that drugs are your only answer.

Stop weakening the "dam" in your stomach; make your
digestion a breeze, and your hiatal hernia (and acid
reflux) symptoms will be a thing of the past.

Hi Sherry:

I have been using your system for about a month and I have
gotten great results, believe me.

About eight years ago I was diagnosed with ulcerative
colitis and have been taking Prevacid, Asacol, and Gaviscon
all these years.  Also I was not able to eat many
vegetables nor fruits because of the fiber.

My niece e-mailed me your information, so I decided right
away to step in the train.  Let me tell you I do not regret
it.  I have lost some weight, which I am very happy about,
and have learned a lot about what foods to eat together.
Your manual "What to Eat with What" has been very
valuable.

The most exciting of all is that I am no longer taking
Prevacid, Asacol or Gaviscon.

Thank you for your advice on how to be fit for life.
