As I was driving home from my office yesterday, I heard a
commercial on the radio that sadly, is so typical in
today's "modern" world.
It started out sounding like an "I Love New York"-type
travel or vacation advertisement for New York State. You
hear a nice, soothing, deep male voice saying:
"Mountains that seem to stretch to heaven...
Thousands of bubbling brooks...
Blue skies filled with birds that rain over lakes filled
with fish...
All of this exists today because the people who settled
New York State made it their mission to take care of the
land."
Then I got a little suspicious with the next line:
"And one reason these pioneers were able to do that is
because one man made it his mission to take care of them..."
Then the real purpose of the commercial was revealed:
"From the day Burt Kinney opened his first drug store in
upstate New York over a century ago, we've taken care of
the people of our state. Kinney Drugs. You're under our
care."
Of course.
Drugs. I'm sure that the reason our forefathers were able
to settle this land was because they had enough drugs.
Come on!
Now, I want to point out that drugs do have their place,
obviously. They've been a Godsend for millions, and many
of us would be dead if it weren't for antibiotics and other
medicines.
However, our dependence on drugs has skyrocketed in the
last few decades, and most of them are completely
unnecessary. In fact, drug reactions and interactions are
the number one cause of death in America today.
We've gotten so that we ignore prevention and healthy
habits (like eating right and exercising) because we'd
rather just pop a pill for our aches, pains and diseases.
It's sad that we've become such a drug-dependent society,
but it's largely because so many people are the victims of
a vicious cycle: We're attacked in every direction by the
food giants pushing their chemical creations as fun, tasty
and God forbid, even nutritious.
This processed non-food is making us sicker and sicker,
but lo and behold, the pharmaceutical companies are
spending billions to make sure they're all over the TV,
newspapers, magazines and doctor's offices. Their
glamorous ads promise instant relief from whatever ails 'ya
(with the horrible side effects shown in very small print
or spoken faster than an auctioneer can ramble).
And of course doctors do their part and write out the
little white slips faster than a speeding bullet.
And ta-dah...the result is, we spend nearly $300 billion a
year on prescription drugs. In 1995, we only spent $60
billion--so our spending on drugs has increased five
hundred percent in only the last 12 years.
At the same time, 90% of the average American grocery bill
is spent on processed foods. 90%! This is why we are sick
and fat. We're not feeding our bodies real food.
Clearly, something has to change. Our bodies were not
meant to be fed chemicals for food, then more chemicals
(drugs) to counteract the effects (diseases) from the
chemicals we ate as food.
When it comes to taking care of the body, simple is the
key.
Real foods. An alkaline pH. Meals put together in the
right way to keep stomach acid low, make digestion a snap,
and keep all your systems working smoothly.
It's not rocket science. I teach you how to do this in
Great Taste No Pain.
And if you go over to http://www.greattastenopain.com and
get it now, within seconds you'll have the tools in your
hand to make this holiday something to really celebrate.
Let this be your Independence Day from big pharma, the food
giants and their cycle of sickness and drugs.
Take care of your body the way the pioneers truly took
care of the land--by treating it the way it's meant to be
treated.
To your health,
Sherry Brescia
PS: See how great Cynthia is feeling and she's gotten off
Nexium:
*******************
Hi Sherry,
I'm in awe over this way of eating!! I've been following
the Great Taste No Pain way of eating for about two weeks
now, but not without a few mistakes. It takes some
discipline to undo all those years of combining foods wrong.
The first thing I noticed was a great night's sleep
followed by another and another. The bonus that came every
morning was incredible ENERGY that lasted all day. Yahoo!!!
I decided to try this because of the little purple pill I
was taking for a couple of years now. Why didn't the
doctor say...you really need to get off of this medication?
Every time I tried on my own I had terrible
results....heartburn, etc.
I stopped taking the Nexium right away and have NO
HEARTBURN. Now if I can only get my husband to follow. He
is watching me and when he is ready I hope he follows me.
Why suffer if you don't have to and fill your body with
drugs we don't need?
The next thing I noticed was less joint pain. I come from
a long line of osteoarthritis and Alzheimer's sufferers.
I was feeling so much pain in my joints that doing laundry
on the weekends was very difficult not to mention
gardening. Now I have the energy after work with no pain
to get the jobs done at home in the evenings.
Oh yeah, the weight is dropping too. I'm never hungry and
always satisfied with the food combo's. This truly is a
gift.
I thought I was ready for an early grave and feeling so
darn old, but that is not to be. Thank God.
Sherry, this has been a blessing to me and I can't thank
you enough for sharing your knowledge and all those great
recipes. I love the Ratatouille.
