Back in the days before GERD and acid reflux were the "in"
stomach problems, what you would hear people complain about
were their ulcers.
-- "Can't eat that spicy food! It'll bother my ulcer." Or,
-- "Gotta stay calm and not get stressed out or else my
ulcer will act up." Or worse yet,
-- "Give me a nice big glass of milk. That will coat my
stomach and help my ulcer."
I remember my father, my grandmother and my Uncle Walter
all guzzling Maalox and Gelusil after dinner every night to
help put out their fires.
In spite of their seeming loss of "popularity," ulcers are
still very much a source of gut aches for many people.
They can form in the stomach (gastric ulcer), the small
intestine (duodenal ulcer) or the esophagus / "food tube"
(esophageal ulcer).
Ulcers have even earned the ranking of a disease by the
medical community and big pharma --they're called Peptic
Ulcer Disease, abbreviated as PUD (now, get your mind out
of the gutter).
The main symptom with ulcers is a nagging, burning pain in
the abdomen and rising up to the throat. Many people have
it worse at night and have to sleep propped up on pillows.
Now, most doctors have the right idea when it comes to
what needs to be accomplished to get relief from ulcers.
Unfortunately, they try to go about it in the worst, most
ineffective way.
Some ulcers stem from infection with H pylori bacteria, so
antibiotics are definitely needed to help kill the
infection. That can't be questioned.
But...
...The most important way to get relief from ulcers, no
matter what the cause, is to reduce the level of acid in
your digestive system.
This is where most doctors fall FLAT on their faces--
because they rely on nothing but drugs, drugs, drugs. No
prevention. Only reaction.
Antacids. H2 blockers. Proton pump inhibitors.
Amazingly, what they don't realize is that these drugs
actually make the problem WORSE.
Here's why:
First of all, the enemy here is NOT acid--it's the
overproduction of acid.
Acid digestive enzymes are NEEDED to properly digest
proteins. So when the stomach secretes acid when you eat
meat, cheese or other protein, it's doing its job and
should not be interfered with.
But that's exactly what the drugs do.
Antacids neutralize the acid in your stomach. H2 blockers
stop the action of histamine (a hormone that signals the
stomach to secrete acid). Proton pump inhibitors shut down
the little "pumps" in the acid-secreting cells of the
stomach.
They all stop the stomach from doing its job!
And what happens then?
Digestion is thwarted.
So your stomach tries to secrete more acid to kick-start
digestion again, but it's either stopped in its tracks or
the acid is neutralized again.
Your barely digested food ends up sitting in your stomach
for 8-10 hours or MORE, fermenting and putrefying...
rotting.
And that means gas galore!
Plus bloating, constipation or diarrhea, and a tremendous
build-up of toxic wastes and bacteria in your colon. So
not only do you have to worry about the fire in your chest,
but now you have World War III going on "further down."
PLUS, most of the nutrients from your foods are completely
destroyed during this digestion halting process. Since
your body isn't getting nourished like it needs to be, the
hunger signal will be triggered and in just a short time,
Bam! You'll feel hungry again.
So you want to eat even MORE!
And the cycle starts all over.
Listen, if you want REAL relief from ulcers, do what makes
sense. Let the stomach do its job, but just stop the OVER-
production of acid.
It's remarkably easy. To keep acid low, all you have to
do is eat a higher concentration of alkaline foods and
correctly combine your meals. That's it!
I teach you how to do it in Great Taste No Pain. It is easy.
If you do what I tell you to do, your stomach (and your
whole body) will respond perfectly. Digestion will be nice
and easy, with just the right amount of acid--no more. And
without the overproduction of acid, your body has a
fighting chance to help heal the ulcer.
You'll get the benefit of more of the nutrients in your
foods, so you'll stay satisfied longer (and the
refrigerator won't be calling your name all night and all
day).
Since your foods will be digested properly, they'll pass
through the rest of your system smoothly too--no more gas,
bloating, constipation or diarrhea. Hooray!
And the best part is you get to enjoy fantastic food.
Real, honest to goodness delicious food. Probably many
dishes that you thought you couldn't eat anymore because
they "bother your ulcer."
