What NOT to do for Crohn's disease

Hi my friend:

I got a lot of great feedback from yesterday's email about
the 8 year-old who was given anti-depressants for IBS and
gastritis.

My heart went out to that little girl and her mother, and
I wanted to make sure they knew the real truth about the
advice they had been given.

And here we go again--here's a letter from a woman whose
husband has Crohn's.  He had diarrhea several times a day,
and in addition to giving him a bunch of pills (that made
him worse), his doctor actually told to him start smoking
again!

Check it out:

Hi Sherry,

My husband has Crohn's disease, so I don't need to tell
you that he's had diarrhea day and night (10 to 13 times a
day).

We went to see a gastrointestinal specialist.  He did all
the tests and confirmed the Crohn's.  He prescribed 4
different medicines--a total of about 14 pills a day.

I specifically asked the doctor about any special diet
that could help.  He said no, there's no special diet.

Furthermore, my husband had just quit smoking and the
doctor had said that he should think of going back to
smoking because there were studies made that said that
smoking was actually good for Crohn's sufferers.

He didn't go back to smoking, but on the pills he got
worse!  We gave it 6 weeks on the pills with no relief in
sight.

I came across your website and we gave your 4-day Pain
Free plan a try.

Immediately, he felt relief, so of course we purchased
your entire system.

It has now been 2 weeks, and he has only had diarrhea
twice.

I am doing the plan with him, and I lost 4 pounds in two
weeks.

He also quit all the pills and is doing much better.

We wanted to tell the doctor about our experience, but to
go to see him means paying for another expensive visit.

Sherry, I want to thank you for helping us.  I will be
spreading the word about your system.

Veronique

SB: Veronique, I'm so happy for your husband (and you)!

And I'm REALLY glad your husband didn't buy that line of
BS that smoking helps people with Crohn's.

Smoking is acid-creating and harmful.  Period. There is NO
evidence that it helps ANY disease--it only causes disease
and death.

And with respect to Crohn's, smoking is an extreme
irritant to the digestive system, and has been linked to
attacks and relapses of Crohn's disease.

Hi, Sherry:

Amazing information!!  I have been a pretty good student
of the nutritional recommendations that you have provided
for 3 weeks and feel so much better.

The contents of my refrigerator look desirable and lovely
now!!  The tomatoes, lemons and limes, seeds and nuts, and
herbs are back!  I was told to avoid them - but now I know
better.

I can literally tell the few times when I mess up, because
the pain and acid burning in my chest come right back.

I have had symptoms of GERD and hiatal hernia for so long
that I thought nothing would work to relieve the pain and
annoyance of daily heartburn and constipation.  And
although prescribed Nexium, I have never taken it because of
my aversion to medication and drugs.

So, bravo to you for doing all the work and research for
the misinformed people out here who, through no real fault
of our own, have not been informed correctly about the
alkaline/acid balance that our bodies need in order to
function properly.

Elaine
