I got a LOT of questions from my email last Thursday.
In it I mentioned how a doctor told a man with Crohn's
disease to start smoking again because the doctor had heard
of some ridiculous study (likely funded by a tobacco
company) that suggested smoking is somehow helpful to
people with Crohn's.
I said it was preposterous and that--if anything, smoking
WORSENS Crohn's and causes relapses.
Since then I've been asked about the effects of smoking on
dozens of conditions, including acid reflux, colitis,
diverticulitis, IBS, gerd, gastritis and hiatal hernia.
I'll make this clear for anyone in ANY state of health:
Smoking is a killer. Plain and simple. It is harmful to
the body in countless ways. And yes, it includes pipes.
A single puff of tobacco smoke exposes the body to over
3,000 chemicals. Some of these are deadly (as in, they
kill you), and almost all make your body unable to function
properly.
When people think of the dangers of smoking, they think
only of mouth, throat or lung cancer. Not so.
The effects of smoking travel deeply throughout your body.
Your lungs normally take the oxygen you breathe in and it
gets absorbed into the blood, where it's transported to all
your cells for energy and life.
But when you breathe in smoke instead, thousands of
harmful substances are transported throughout your entire
body--even down to your big toes...
...within 20 seconds.
Nicotine makes your heart work much harder. The harmful
gases in smoke cause the blood vessels to narrow, causing a
greater risk of heart disease and stroke.
And when carbon monoxide (created when tobacco burns)
passes from the lungs into the blood, it stops the flow of
oxygen to all parts of the body. Without oxygen, our cells
have no energy and they die.
People commit suicide by locking themselves in a garage
with a running car. Know what kills them? The carbon
monoxide!
The numerous toxins in the cigarette smoke that are
carried all over the body in the bloodstream put your body
(your pH) in a serious acidic state.
When your body is acidic, it can't heal itself. None of
your organs can work properly--including your stomach,
liver, pancreas, kidneys, lungs and heart.
So this makes any digestive challenges you might have far
worse.
Toxic wastes build up because your body simply cannot
eliminate them all. This build-up causes inflammation and
worsens conditions like arthritis, fibromyalgia,
osteoporosis and other bone and joint problems.
When you're inflamed and have toxic waste build-up, your
body is the perfect breeding ground for diseases of all
kinds.
And on top of everything else, when you smoke, you stink!
Your body tries to get rid of the toxins from smoking
through the skin...so you end up smelling (and tasting, for
those who kiss you) like a foul, dirty ashtray.
Smoking is good for one thing and one thing alone--DEATH.
Oh, and profits for the tobacco companies too.
I hope this clears up any remaining questions about
smoking and disease--simply put, they go hand in hand.
To your health,
Sherry Brescia

*******************
Sherry,
I am writing this note to you to thank you for what your
plan has done for a very special someone in my life.
A little over 13 years ago, I met and fell in love with
the woman of my dreams. She truly completes me and has
brought me so much peace and joy. She is my soul mate and
the sunshine in my life.
About five years ago she started to develop stomach
problems and has been diagnosed with everything from simple
heartburn, GERD, Acid Reflux, IBS and Barrett's esophagus.
The MD's of course have prescribed the usual--a lifetime
of medication from over the counter Prilosec or Pepcid to
Protonix. None of these really helped much to fight the
daily battle she had to endure, and she never knew if, when
or where her stomach would flare up again.
The stress and anxiety of a lifetime of medication
(including an antidepressant) and the daily struggles to
lead a normal life only exacerbated the problems she was
facing.
It became as though she was no longer in control of her
life, but her condition and the prescribed medication were
the ones in control. When would this vicious cycle ever
end?!
It ended one day after yet another stressful doctor's
appointment. While we were doing research on the latest
diagnosis, she came across your website:
and shared it with me.
She said, "I wonder if her stuff really works?" She
started with Pain-Free in 1 Day and then ordered your full
plan, diligently reading all the information you provide
and sharing with me all that she had learned.
It has been a very empowering experience for her and she
has recaptured the control of her life. The sunshine has
returned to My Sunshine.
So for anyone that might be reading this, whether you are
someone fighting to regain your life or a loved one of
someone who is.... Yes her stuff really works!
From all of the loved ones out there... Thank You Sherry!
