My opinion of acai berries

It seems that every now and then a "wonder food" pops up
and creates a craze that rivals the Cabbage Patch Kids
lunacy of 1983.

The subject of the current wonder food craze is acai
berries.

Every day I get asked for my opinion of acai berries...so
here goes:

Acai (pronounced ah-sigh-ee) berries come from the
Brazilian Acai palm.

Studies done on acai berries show they are a very
impressive antioxidant.  In fact, the acai berry in its
natural (unprocessed) state contains about four times the
antioxidants in blueberries or grapes.

It is believed by many to have the highest antioxidant
capability of any known (edible) fruit.

The benefits of antioxidants such as those found in acai
berries include:

* Stronger immune resistance to flu, viruses and infections
* Greatly reduced incidence of all cancers
* Prevention of glaucoma and macular degeneration
* Reduced risk of cholesterol-oxidation and heart disease
* Anti-aging of cells and overall body
* Fight free radicals that can lead to Alzheimer's and
other diseases

The acai berry has a flavor that many have compared to
chocolate and raspberries.

But there are also some important things you must know
about acai berries.

First, they rot quickly, so it's pretty unlikely that
you'd come across fresh ones unless you hop a plane to
South America.

The acai berries you can buy have been processed (usually
freeze-dried) which decreases their antioxidant capability
by as much as 90%.

So the wonder food gets deflated to ordinary status pretty
quickly.

Pure acai juice is a good option, but (not surprisingly)
many of the food giants add artificial flavors and
sweeteners to the juice, compromising the acai's beneficial
nutrients and making the drink more closely resemble
Gatorade.

If you choose to buy acai juice, read the bottle label
carefully.  If you see anything but acai juice (especially
high fructose corn syrup or artificial anything) put it
back on the shelf.  Very bad.

Supplements are another option, but they come at a hefty
cost--usually around $40 a month or more.  Less for lesser
quality.

And as with any other supplement, low quality and low
density ingredients are the norm for 98% of what is out
there.

What many of the acai-crazed literature is NOT saying is
that acai is not the only wonder food out there.  It just
happens to be an expensive one.

While it can be argued that acai berries are a strong
antioxidant, so are foods like:

* Blueberries
* Concord grapes
* Pomegranates
* Artichokes
* Spinach
* Black beans
* Red kidney beans
* Cranberries
* Prunes
* Strawberries
* Apples
* Russet (baking) potatoes
* Plums

These foods have powerful anti-oxidant properties.  And
the way to eat them and many others like them for full
benefit (and without discomfort of any kind) are explained
in the Great Taste No Pain manuals you can get here:
- http://www.greattastenopain.com/great.asp

In GTNP, you'll learn how to eat those and many other
foods, many of which you might think you can't eat now,
without pain or discomfort, but when you eat them the way
I'll teach you, you'll find that you can.

Taking care of your body and loading up on natural
antioxidants is cheap when you get it from your food...and
never tasted so good.

Sherry:

After suffering for 32 years with indigestion and chronic
abdominal pain, I recently came across your web site and
decided to try your leaflet, Pain Free in 1 Day.

What a blessing.  I was actually pain free the first day.

I had no problem with the plan and liked everything that
you listed.  I followed it exactly and could hardly wait to
order Great Taste No Pain on the 3rd day.

I was able to plan my own menus and safely eat without any
problem.  It's easy and convenient.

Thank you for doing all that research!

Diane
