Lies and damn lies of drug marketing

In the world of drug marketing, there are lies, and then
there are damn lies.  Lying to sell drugs is bad.  But it's
the damn lies that do serious damage to people to take them.

When I was growing up I remember the occasional "Speedy
Alka Seltzer" commercials on TV, but you never saw drugs
ads everywhere like they are now.

Now they're in magazines and newspapers, on billboards and
the internet, on the calendars, charts and tissue
dispensers in doctors' offices and of course on TV.

And all drugs are fair game for TV advertisement.  I was
watching an NFL playoff game back in January at 4:00 in the
afternoon with my 10 year-old son Mickey and his 9 year-old
friend when a Viagravating commercial came on.

After it ended, my son's friend whispered to Mick,
"Mickey, what's sexual activity?"

I had to tell him to ask his parents.

Some of these ads go for humor.

An example is the latest Pepto-Bismol commercial where
there's a Pepto "hot line" that people can call to see if
their latest food over-indulgence is "covered."

A guy answers the phone "Pepto Bismol knows your
heartburn, indigestion, upset stomach and diarrhea."

A woman (with a dog in her lap) explains how "Rex got into
everything--chips, tapioca, ice creams, leftover mu-shu and
of course, dog treats."

When the Pepto mans says dogs aren't covered, the lady
says, "Oh, Charlie is my dog.  Rex is my husband" and the
camera cuts over to the husband in agony in his reclining
chair.

Then the commercial ends with the reassurance that,
"Whatever your stomach problem, Pepto keeps you covered.
Pepto Bismol--yup, you're covered."

There's the obvious message here that Pepto-Bismol is a
stomach drug designed to ease indigestion.

But there's the more subtle but effective message that
says you can eat whatever your heart desires like Rex.  All
you have to do is take our drug when you're writhing in
pain afterwards.

And what about all of the other problems that eating
whatever your heart desires leads to?

Obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, diverticulitis and
acid reflux, just to name a few.

Isn't it unconscionable to suggest that people can eat
whatever they want if doing so is proven to cause disease?

Oh, but wait.  There are drugs for most of THOSE diseases
too.  Lots of nice expensive ones, many of which need to be
taken every day, for life.

So what the ad is REALLY saying is, "No problem--eat
whatever you want, because you're guaranteed to be a
customer for life that way."

Now the commercial doesn't seem so funny, does it?

Know what?  You deserve more than that.

You deserve to be in an every day state of good health.

Drugs don't make you healthy--they create false health by
covering up symptoms.  And often not very well.  Most
times, they create more, even worse symptoms.  And the
original, underlying problems are still there.

Remember drugs are chemicals, and our bodies were not
designed to ingest chemicals.

Want to be healthy regardless of "family history?"

Eat real (not processed) foods in good combinations to
keep your pH in a normal range.  A body with an alkaline
pH is far more likely to be healthy, full of energy and
completely free of disease.

When you create real health from within by eating this
way, you are far less likely to need drugs of any kind.

Less need for drugs (and doctor's visits) means more dough-
re-mi in YOUR pocket--not theirs.

Great Taste No Pain shows you exactly what to do.  It's a
one-time tiny investment that keeps you from having to
spend a fortune every year on medicines and doctor visits.

A true insurance policy.

If you own it, use the knowledge.  If you don't, get it
now, use it and feel sorry for all of the Rex's in the
world that gulp drugs every day.

PS:  Nancy no longer needs to rely on Zantac, and said no
to Prilosec:

Sherry:

For months I was suffering from increasingly harder to
manage acid reflux.

I have a large hiatal hernia and Zantac worked in the
short term but began to have worse effects over
time....more acid reflux.

Since trying your plan, my symptoms are very little to
NONE.  I'm in a happy state of shock that by changing a few
things in how I eat, the effects could be so dramatic. I
also lost 6 pounds!

Thanks for the best information about how to manage/cure
this huge problem.

My doctor wanted me to take Prilosec but I didn't want to
take pills that just add more problems.  Instead I looked
for other causes/solutions, knowing what and how I eat must
have an impact and then I found you.

Thank you again.

Nancy
