Long time subscribers are well aware of the connection
between acid reflux and the overproduction of acid in the
stomach.
But people have also told me they've heard that just the
opposite is true--it's the UNDERproduction of acid that
leads to acid reflux.
Which is true?
Answer: Both.
Although it's more common for the stomach to OVERproduce
acid, it's quite possible for UNDERproduction to be a
problem too.
Regardless of whether you have OVER or UNDERproduction of
acid, both result in poorly digested food, a stressed
digestive system and PAIN.
Common causes of hypochlorhydria (low stomach acid)
include long-term alcohol abuse and aging.
You see, at birth, we have a limited supply of digestive
enzymes, so if you spend a lifetime eating foods that are
difficult to digest (as is standard these days) and expend
your enzyme reserves, you will literally run out of
digestive enzymes. Not good.
And here's a little tidbit you'll NEVER read in a drug ad--
A very common cause of low stomach acid is: Acid reflux
drugs.
You read that right. And that includes antacids, H2
blockers and Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).
Here's what I mean:
- Antacids neutralize the acid in your stomach.
- H2 blockers stop the action of histamine (a hormone that
signals the stomach to secrete acid).
- Proton pump inhibitors shut down the little "pumps" in
the acid-secreting cells of the stomach.
All three result in either no stomach acid, or the acid in
there ends up neutralized and useless.
Again, not good. Because acid digestive enzymes are
NEEDED to properly digest proteins. So when the stomach
secretes acid when you eat meat, cheese or other protein,
it's doing its job and should not be interfered with.
But that's exactly what these drugs do.
They all stop your stomach from doing what it must do to
digest your food.
And what happens then?
Digestion is thwarted, halted, stopped.
Your stomach senses this and tries to secrete more acid to
jump-start digestion again, but it's either stopped in its
tracks or the acid is neutralized again.
So now you have a vicious cycle--the drugs are zapping
away your stomach acid, and because the stomach repeatedly
tries to secrete more acid to do its job, you end up using
more of your limited enzyme supply.
That's practically guaranteeing that you'll run low and
have hypochlorhydria by the time you hit your 60s or before.
Funny that Cheryl Ladd and John Elway don't say that in
their commercials.
Also, without the benefit of proper digestive enzymes,
your barely digested food ends up sitting in your stomach
for 8-10 hours or MORE, fermenting and rotting.
That means gas, bloating, constipation or diarrhea, and a
tremendous build-up of toxic wastes and bacteria in your
colon.
But, never fear, good pharmaceutical customer: There are
MORE drugs for all of those problems too.
Look, regardless of whether you may have OVERproduction of
acid in the stomach or UNDERproduction, one thing remains
constant...
You MUST eat in a way that allows for easy, complete
digestion of your foods. That's the only way you'll get
REAL relief from acid reflux and other digestive problems.
It's remarkably easy. And ridiculously simple. Just a
few basic principles to remember.
If you do what I tell you to do, your stomach will respond
quickly. Digestion will be fast and easy, with just the
right amount of stomach acid necessary--not too much. This
will help conserve YOUR enzyme supply for life.
And if you've got a challenge with low stomach acid
already, here's good news: A lot of the foods recommended
in the GTNP program have their OWN naturally occuring
enzymes already, so they require little or none of yours
for digestion.

Hi Sherry,
It's truly amazing but your No Great Taste No Pain program
really works.
I have been suffering from GERD, IBS for a number of years
now. I have been to the gastros several times.
I've been given Aciphex, Prevacid, Pepsid, etc. All
relieve the problems for a little while only to return
later.
I have been to at least 3 different gastroenterologists.
The last one I went to took all kinds of tests and found
nothing seriously wrong. He said it is just a slight IBS
and GERD that I'll have to take medication for the rest of
my life.
The last gastro I went to thought it was all "in my head"
and recommended that I go to Temple University Hospital in
PA to get further testing.
Well, I couldn't travel and didn't want to travel to PA.
I live in NJ and do not have a car. In frustration, I
decided to search the website and I know Jesus led me to
your website. Once I saw your program and read the story I
was hooked and knew that was the program I was looking for.
I immediately downloaded your "Pain-Free in 1 Day" and
tried it. I was truly amazed how quickly the symptoms went
away. I stopped taking the Prevacid.
I ordered the entire program two weeks later. That's the
plan I'm following now. I am truly thankful to God for
leading me to your website. It has been an "eye-opener."
I'm spreading the good news as fast as I can with my
friends. God really has sent you to help other people who
are suffering and don't even know why.
Please keep up the good work.
Theresa
