Some bad advice - and a diverticulitis case study

No doubt you've seen the headlines all over the 'net for
diet recommendations by the "Eat This Not That" authors.

Every few weeks I see stories like "The 10 worst burgers
in America" or "The 5 snack foods you must avoid" on msn
or yahoo.

In each case, the "bad foods" (usually fast food) are
shown along with their calorie, fat and sodium content.

Then the authors give suggestions on what to eat instead,
and it's usually something from the same or another fast
food restaurant, only with less calories, fat and sodium.

For example, one of their suggestions is to eat a
McDonald's Big Mac instead of a Burger King Whopper with
cheese.  You'll save more than 200 calories and 20 grams of
fat.

This is represented as "healthy" weight loss advice.  On
the back cover of "Eat This Not That" the authors even say,
"You can burn fat and build the body you want--not by
eating less, but by making smart, healthy food choices."

Excuse me?  Since when is a Big Mac a healthy food choice?
Or a Dairy Queen Small chocolate sundae?  Or a Kripsy Kreme
Whole wheat glazed donut?

Those are ALL things they recommend.

Is it just me or should those guys be flogged for putting
out such a travesty and marketing it as health advice.

All they've done is simple arithmetic and showed you how
many calories and fat grams you save between two foods.  A
second grader could do the same.

Now there's no doubt that there are some big people who
have followed their advice have lost pounds, simply because
of the principle that if you take in less total calories,
you will drop pounds.

But while you're making that scale number go down eating
Big Macs instead of Whoppers, you're wrecking your health.

Most of the recommendations in the Eat This Not That books
tell you to eat acidic, processed foods that will make you
sick and cause you pain and disease.

Here are a few things to expect when eating the way they
recommend:

* Acid reflux, diverticulitis or IBS.
These and other digestive disorders are a direct result of
eating foods that are acid creating and badly combined--
just like the Eat This Not That authors recommend.

* Doctor's visits and tests.
Once your gut starts to ache or you're so bloated you look
like you swallowed a beachball, you'll visit your doctor
who will need to do a bunch of expensive, invasive tests to
see what's wrong.

* Drugs.
Ah, yes. Continue eating this way and you'll be tighter
with the pharmaceutical companies.  The purple pill or
something similar will be a permanent fixture in your
medicine cabinet.

* Other symptoms.
Having that much acid in your body means inflammation all
over.  This can lead to things like migraines, acne, rashes
and joint aches and pains.

And here's the kicker:

* Weight gain.
That's right. Even if you might have lost a few pounds by
taking in less calories, eventually eating an acid-forming
diet will catch up with you. Your body is put under
extreme stress to digest those foods, and because of the
poor digestion and nutrient absorption that results, you'll
pack the pounds back on and more.

If you want REAL health, if you want to be at your ideal
weight, take my recommendation and follow the advice inside
the pages of the Great Taste No Pain system.

You see, when you follow the advice I teach, your
digestion improves 100%.

You'll be able to eat a lot without gaining weight.

You won't be hungry as often because your body is
nourished like it needs to be.

And you eliminate old, build-up wastes that may have
accumulated in the digestive tract.

That all means a lighter you...and the best part is you
stay that way.  I've maintained my same bodyweight (115
pounds) for the last 17 years without ever dieting or
counting calories.

I was a lot heavier before I was trained to eat this way.

GTNP can do the same for you.  Get started now, and you'll
be looking good in your bathing suit by summer time.

To your health,

Sherry Brescia

PS:  Carol said goodbye to diverticulitis, acid reflux,
famotidine AND 10 pounds:

Dear Sherry:

I started on your Great Taste No Pain plan just 4 weeks
ago.

I have had 5 or 6 bouts with diverticulitis in the past 2
years, and the last was the worst.  It came just days
before we had planned a vacation trip to San Francisco with
our daughter and her husband.

I was so sick the night before our flight I had to cancel
what would have been a wonderful spring getaway for all 4
of us.  I got to go to see the colon surgeon instead--
whoopee!

After my first visit with him, I sat down at my computer
to surf for info about diverticulitis - and your site was
the first one I went to.  (I think God actually led me to
it.)

I started the plan right away, and have been on it now for
30 days.  I have had no further attacks of diverticulitis.
I have just come from a colonoscopy examination and the
doctor said he didn't think surgery was called for at this
point.  Hallelujah!  That is what I was praying for as I
ate my good food combinations! (And they are delicious).

I will see him again in a month, but I am expecting to be
feeling great!  I also had been on famotidine daily for
acid reflux previous to this diet, and I have not taken it
nor needed it once in the past 4 weeks.

Oh, and I have lost 10 lbs.!

So thank you, thank you, thank you.  I am sharing your
website with anyone who has digestive problems.

Carol D.
