According to the National Institutes of Health in
Bethesda, MD, about 1 in 10 Americans will develop a peptic
ulcer.
An ulcer is a sore in the protective lining of your
stomach that allows your digestive acids to seep through
and "burn" the stomach. That's why ulcer sufferers usually
complain of a burning pain--that's exactly what's going on.
They can also feel nauseous and vomit.
Researchers have determined that the Helicobacter pylori
bacteria (H. pylori) causes or worsens most ulcers.
The interesting thing is that the presence of H. pylori
alone is not enough to cause ulcers. Because about half of
Americans over ago 60 carry H. pylori yet most don't
develop ulcers.
Whether or not you'll develop an ulcer also depends on
things like your diet, long-term use of aspirin or
nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS), and the
reaction of your immune system to the H. pylori bacteria.
The typical treatment for ulcers is "triple therapy" --
two antibiotics to kill the H. pylori bacteria and an
antacid to lower stomach acid and promote healing of the
stomach wall.
Sounds good...
Too bad it's not effective.
Here's why:
First of all, patients on triple therapy take as many as
20 pills a day. That's enough to choke a horse.
The antacids destroy your digestion because your stomach
needs acid to digest many types of foods, but the acid
production is blocked or neutralized. So you end up with
gas, bloating, constipation, diarrhea and reduced nutrient
absorption as a result. And that means increased appetite.
The antibiotics used in triple therapy completely throw
your intestinal flora out of whack, obliterate your
digestion and weaken your immune system. They also cause
side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dark
stools, metallic taste in the mouth, dizziness, headache,
and yeast infections in women.
Plus H. pylori can grow back...
Just because antibiotics destroyed it once doesn't mean it
won't return. It most often does. And you'll be back at
square one again with your stomach on fire.

Probiotics shown effective against H. Pylori
===============================
What is showing great promise in truly effective ulcer
prevention and treatment is probiotics.
Lab experiments have established that certain
Lactobacillus strains--L. acidophilus, L. salivarius and L.
casei--can slow the growth of H. pylori and even kill it.
Research was conducted with a group of mice where they
were given L. salivarius for a few days, then they were fed
H. pylori. The researchers noted that the mice were
completely protected from H. pylori infection.
Further studies were done with mice already infected with
H. pylori. Feeding them L. salivarius after infection
reduced the presence of H. pylori bacteria by more than 99%.
Similar exciting results have been seen in human studies:
In a 2004 study in the American Journal of Clinical
Nutrition, researchers took a group of 70 adults who tested
positive for H. pylori, but had no ulcer symptoms.
For a six-week period, 59 of the 70 adults were given
yogurt to which L. acidophilus and Bifidobacterium lactis
BB12 were added, and the other 11 just drank ordinary milk.
After the 6 weeks the H. pylori levels in the probiotic-
laced yogurt group were lowered significantly, whereas the
milk drinkers saw no change.
Two months after the study, after the yogurt group stopped
taking probiotics, their H. pylori levels had again
increased.
Super Shield contains powerful strains of the bacteria
that were shown to be effective against H. pylori in
research studies--L. acidophilus DDS-1, L. salivarius
UCC118, L. casei Shirota and B. lactis BB12.
If you try to find these strains in other probiotics on
the market, you will not find them. They cost too much
money.
So what do other supplement companies do?
Even though they use the most common cheap strains in their
products, they point to these studies, claiming the same
results. Deception!
At Blue Rock Holistics, we do not do this smoke and mirrors
deception trick that others do. We use the ingredients
that are used in research labs. Only the best medical
grade ingredients. Yet we charge middle of the road prices.
So you get more for less. And you get a product that
actually does what it's supposed to do.
And keep in mind, even if you have ulcers and are
undergoing triple therapy, Super Shield can help counteract
the harm that the antibiotics are causing your system,
balance your intestinal flora, and help strengthen your
immune system to encourage faster healing.
PS: Good digestive health and ulcer prevention is also
dependent on a healthy, low acid diet. Great Taste No Pain
shows you the few simple principles to follow to keep your
digestion smooth, acid low, and you feeling great:
