Why I'm PO'd today

I'm a bit PO'd today...

It's because I just read an article published in a
recent medical journal where many forward thinking doctors
were interviewed and expressed frustration with their
colleagues because they see every patient as either a pill
depository or some flesh to cut into...

As if there are no other options available or appropriate.

It's also because one of my clients is minus a gallbladder
that probably did NOT need to be taken out.

The number of unnecessary surgeries and unneeded
prescriptions written is staggering.

An estimated 7.5 million unnecessary medical and surgical
procedures are performed each year just in the US, and
current estimates show that as many as half (50%) of the
drugs prescribed are inappropriate or unnecessary.

Unfortunately, Heidi was a victim of this lunacy.

At only age 37, she was put on one drug after another for
her digestive problems and even had her gallbladder
removed, but still felt no better...as a matter of fact,
she felt WORSE.

But then she finally put an end to her run on the white
coat treadmill and getting pill after pill and is now
feeling GREAT.

Here's her story:

*******************

Dear Sherry,

I am 37 years old and almost a year ago, just before
Thanksgiving 2008, I began to experience discomfort at the
top of my stomach.  It would come and go, but as the days
moved on the discomfort continued and became more frequent.
I don't know how to describe it except that it felt like
there was something in there.

In early December I finally went to the doctor, wondering
if it was my gallbladder.  Instead of doing any tests, my
doctor put me on Zantac, just to make sure it wasn't
heartburn, and told me to come see him if it wasn't better
by the end of the month.

I started taking the Zantac in the evenings and it didn't
seem to be helping.  I stopped taking it for a couple of
days right around Christmas, but the discomfort and
pressure in my stomach was increasing.

I decided to try the Zantac in the mornings before I ate
breakfast.  Within two days the acid was shooting up into
my esophagus.  I began belching and gurgling frequently.

Right away my esophagus, at the base of my throat began to
bother me.  It felt as if there was something in there, so
much pressure and discomfort, like something was stuck or
pushing on my throat.  As a result, I pretty much quit
eating.  I didn't know what I could eat.  It seemed
everything I tried, except for cucumber sandwiches, sweet
potatoes, or my home canned green beans, bothered me.  The
feeling in my throat was always there.

I went to the doctor again and this time they did a scan
on my gallbladder. Nothing. Then a different gallbladder
test, where they determined that it was slightly
dysfunctional, but not bad enough to remove.  So, I had an
endoscope where I was diagnosed with esophagitis and GERD.

I was given an H2 blocker and they pretty much said good
luck and call us in a couple of weeks if it isn't better.
It never got better.  I was losing weight and feeling
horrible.

I went back to the doctor again in early February and he
suggested putting me on Reglan, a drug that would help my
food to digest more quickly.  I was to call him in two
weeks if it didn't help.  My grandma had taken this drug
that previous summer and it had seriously messed her up.
There was no way I would do that to myself.  I went home
crying, so discouraged and so miserable.

I called my husband and he told me to call a different
doctor for a second opinion.  Within a week I had my
gallbladder out.  My hopes were so high that I would get
better, but it was not to be.  The acid reflux did not go
away, although they did say that my gallbladder was
chronically inflamed.

In early March I was 25 pounds lighter, so miserable and
still losing more rapidly.  I desperately began searching
the internet for something that would help.  At first I
found a website that gave suggestions for trying things
like a spoonful of raw honey or a red delicious apple.  I
tried them, but it didn't take care of the problem.  Still
desperate, weak and malnourished, I resumed my search and
came upon the Great Taste No Pain website.

I downloaded your four day plan and after the first day I
was convinced that this would be what would help me heal.
I immediately ordered the manuals and cookbook.  Everything
that you said, Sherry, made so much sense.  I had felt for
a long time that the medication I was taking was working
against me and you convinced me that it was true, so I
stopped taking it.  And oh how wonderful it was to be able
to eat again!

I'd like to say that the diet fixed my problems
immediately, but it didn't.  I have been following the
Great Taste No Pain plan consistently for about seven
months and have been taking your Super Shield for about
four months.  I can finally say that I am feeling almost
normal, actually better than normal.

I no longer have reflux and can feel that my esophagus has
been gradually healing.  Once in awhile something that I
eat, or the quantity that I eat, will bother me, but for
the most part, I'm feeling great and the pressure in my
esophagus is basically gone!

In addition to the physical healing I also have so much
more energy and I'm learning how to be a responsible eater,
something that was sorely lacking in my "former" life.

Thank you so much for making this information available.
Why doctors don't know about this way of eating is beyond
me.  I will continue to share your website with anyone who
will listen.

Our nation is so badly in need of getting back to natural
foods and eating correct combinations.  It saddens me
greatly anytime I see someone who is overweight and thinks
they're healthy.  That was me a year ago.  I am now 50
pounds lighter and am determined to teach my children the
correct and truly healthy way to eat.

Sincerely,

Heidi M.

There are a couple of things I'd like to point out about
Heidi's story:

1)  She was right to fear taking the Reglan her doctor was
suggesting.  Here is a standard warning about Reglan:

"Treatment with metoclopramide (the cheimcal name for
Reglan) can cause tardive dyskinesia, a serious movement
disorder that is often irreversible.  The risk of
developing tardive dyskinesia increases with duration of
treatment and total cumulative dose.

There is no known treatment for tardive dyskinesia.  In
some patients, symptoms may lessen or resolve after
metoclopramide treatment is stopped."

Here is a video that shows exactly what tardive dyskinesia
looks like--it's not pretty:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUr8ltXh1Pc

2)  One doctor told Heidi she didn't need her gallbladder
removed...yet the next one happily took it right out.  Even
though there was inflammation, instead of trying to
determine WHY it was inflamed, the doc just cut it out.

And Heidi felt NO better for it.

3)  It took Heidi's body seven months to feel better than
ever by eating a more alkalizing diet.  That's likely
because her pH was VERY acidic and it took her body some
time to clean the acid wastes and for the inflammation to
subside.  An acid pH is likely the reason her gallbladder
was inflamed too.

Heidi has seen for herself how your body responds to
eating a correctly combined, alkalizing diet like I teach
in Great Taste No Pain.

Your body is meant to be alkaline.  When it's too acidic,
you get pain, inflammation and digestive problems--all the
things Heidi suffered from.

See how great you can feel by following my simple yet
powerful plan.  After all, the alternative is more pills,
losing some of your insides and maybe tardive dyskinesia.
