But there are also what I call the "silent sufferers."
These are people who eat a typical Western diet "everyone"
else eats but don't have a single digestive problem.
It IS possible to eat the absolute worst foods or
combinations of foods and not have tummy troubles...
But trust me, trouble is brewing elsewhere.
These are probably the most unlucky people of all.
When people like this challenge me and say, "I eat
whatever I want and don't have any stomach problems," I ask
them:
Do you get headaches?
How about joint pain? Muscle aches?
Carrying an extra 10 or 20 or more that you can't seem to
lose?
How's your blood pressure and cholesterol? A little on
the high side?
Are you loaded with energy, or do you need coffee or soda
to get through the day?
How's your sex drive--not what it was just a couple years
ago?
Do you get rashes, acne or hives?
Are you a walking sick ward from November to May, catching
every cold and bug around?
And when they undoubtedly say yes to one or more of these
questions, I give them the shocker:
Every single problem I mentioned is caused or worsened by
having an acid pH--which is the direct result of what you
eat.
Ah-ha. Then they become believers.
Here's a story from someone who suffered BOTH ways from an
acid pH. Scot had IBS plus a ton of other problems, but is
now beginning a new life:
*******************
Sherry,
I have had severe IBS for the last 7 years. I have also
have had chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and chronic
myofascial pain disorder as well. I have been unable to
eat fresh fruit or red meat for several years. I was in
constant pain with gas, bloating and constipation.
This list could go on for hours, but to sum it up, I have
been in constant pain and discomfort for the last 7 years.
I have taken many meds, had every blood test under the sun,
had upper GI's, lower GI's etc... Lot's of fun!!! Ha.
I have been on a regimen of 40mg of Zyban, 40 mg of
Celexa, 20 mg of Celebrex, and an Ambien to sleep.
I started your plan 8 days ago, and no longer need the
Ambien, plus I have stopped taking the Celebrex and Zyban.
I am still taking the Celexa for fear of the FM pain coming
back, but plan on coming off of it slowly as well.
I am eating fresh fruit again, I have more energy and am
feeling much better. My stomach still is not 100% perfect,
but I've made more progress in 8 days than the docs made in
7 years.
Thank you.
Scot

PPS: Edward's acid reflux has disappeared by following
the Great Taste No Pain principles:
*******************
Hello Sherry,
I would like to thank you for helping me with my chronic
acid reflux problem.
For umteen years, I have been taking just about every
antacid tablet I can get my hands on. When antacid pills
or liquid antacid formulas were not available, I would
resort to baking soda and water, which only provided
temporary relief.
I received your book in early November of this year, and
have been reading it and following the food combination
suggestions. This is the first Thanksgiving that I
thoroughly enjoyed, because I did not experience any sort
of gastrointestinal discomfort, nor lack of energy or other
symptoms.
It is the 11th of December, and I have not taken any
antacid tablets, and am still enjoying some of the foods
that I am accustomed to eating.
It is incredible that such a simple change in our eating
habits produces such drastic results.
I have been studying acupressure and magnet therapy for
many years, and there have been times where I have applied
acupressure to myself to eliminate pain and discomfort
caused by my acid reflux. As you had mentioned in your
book, it takes discipline to change our food diets; after
being pain-free for the short time that I have rearranged
my food groups, I will never eat the same way that I used
to.
I have been sharing my story with my friends and working
colleagues, and hope that those who suffer from acid reflux
and other ailments will take some corrective, without the
use of pharmaceutical products.
Thank you once again, and continued success in helping all
of us.
