The Dark Side Of Food Processing

What if I invited you to lunch and offered you a rock
sandwich?

Or a dirt salad?

How about a savory sand stew?

That's ridiculous, of course, but a huge percentage of what
people eat in developed countries today has about the same
nutritional value.  Almost identical, in fact.

This fact is causing unnecessary suffering and death by
the hundreds of thousands every year.

Research has shown that there are 44 essential nutrients
that you must get from your environment (food or
supplements):

21 minerals
13 vitamins
8 amino acids
2 essential fatty acids

And for each nutrient, there are 3 possible levels you can
have--too much (excess or toxicity), too little
(deficiency) or just right (optimal).

The most common problem in the US and most other countries
around the world that eat a Western-type diet is, you
guessed it, deficiency.

That might sound odd to most people, since the average
Westerner is overweight... "How could I be deficient in so
many nutrients considering how much food I eat?"

The answer: Junk calories and poor absorption due to
acidity.

Lacking nutrients your body needs will inevitably bring
about physical deterioration (also known as degeneration).
If degeneration is allowed to progress long enough it will
eventually lead to chronic diseases and end in death.

That's not my opinion--it's a proven scientific fact.

What does degeneration look like in your body?

Degeneration can take the form of cardiovascular disease,
cancer, type II diabetes, arthritis, MS, asthma and
hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), among other things.

Certainly nothing to play around with or ignore.

We're seriously deficient.

=====================

Two US governmental surveys (the Health and Nutrition
Examination Survey and the Nationwide Food Consumption
Survey) measured intake of 13 essential nutrients in tens
of thousands of people.  They found that sodium was the
ONLY nutrient that people ate enough of--all others were
deficient.

Sodium is salt.  Surprise!

Of course--with all the high-sodium processed foods and
french fries loaded with salt and ketchup that Americans
eat, how could we possibly be low in sodium?

The typical poorly combined Western diet full of processed
foods and lacking in fresh fruits and vegetables is far and
away the main cause of our chronic nutritional deficiencies.

Here's why:

1)  Nutrients are sucked right out of processed foods

Processed foods start out as real food, but then they're
completely violated through one or more processes--heating,
bleaching, drying, fragmenting, freeze drying, evaporating,
etc.--until they in no way resemble real food in appearance
or nutrient-wise.

Some low-grade vitamins and nutrients may be added in at
the end of processing (especially with products like kids'
cereals), but they're not nearly the same quantity or
quality as those that occurred naturally in the food (and
got destroyed).

Here's a startling example.  This is a list of some of the
nutrients lost from whole wheat grains when they're
processed into white flour:

Nutrient % lost during processing

Calcium 60%
Iron 76%
Magnesium 85%
Manganese 86%
Phosphorus 71%
Zinc 78%
Vitamins B1, B2 and B3 72-81%
Vitamin B6 72%
Vitamin E 86%
Linoleic acid 95%
Alpha-linolenic acid 95%
Protein 33%
Fiber 95%

With all the white bread, hamburger rolls, bagels, donuts,
cakes, pies and other flour-based foods we eat by the
boatload, is it any wonder we're nutritionally deficient?

2)  A body that's too acidic can't absorb nutrients

Badly combined foods and processed foods are extremely
acid-forming to your body.  When your body's pH is acidic
(called acidosis) you can't effectively absorb nutrients.

So it matters not that you might take the best multi-
vitamin on the market.  Most of it is likely flowing out as
expensive urine.

And you continue to be nutritionally deficient with your
cells degenerating by the day.

3)  Too much stomach acid destroys nutrients, too

Eating improper combinations of foods results in
overproduction of acid in your stomach...and that excess
acid obliterates most or all of the nutrients in your
foods.

So even if you're eating the best healthy, organic foods
from the finest restaurants, if you're combining the wrong
foods together and jacking up your stomach acid production,
you might as well be eating sawdust.

A glimmer of hope for everyone
=========================

Even though physical degeneration is scary, there is some
great news:  It can be counteracted and many times even
reversed.

Impressive work is currently being done using essential
fatty acids (EFAs) in the treatment of degenerative
diseases.  Many people are being relieved of these
conditions, even when their illnesses have resisted the
typical treatments of drugs, surgery and radiation.

Omega-3 fatty acids have been used therapeutically along
with a healthy diet with very positive results.
Improvements include needing less or no arthritis medicine,
improved cholesterol, triglyceride or blood sugar results,
slowing or stopping the growth of tumors and less severe or
less frequent asthma attacks.

Physical degeneration is another great reason to
supplement with VitalMega-3 Omega-3 formula.

VitalMega-3 is a pharmaceutical-grade fish oil that
delivers a full 1200 mg of Omega-3s in each and every daily
two-capsule serving.

Since the food supply in the US and other industrialized
countries is lacking in Omega-3 EFA's, serious deficiencies
are a given for most.

With VitalMega-3, the benefits to your cardiovascular
system, joints, brain, nervous system, and other systems
can be considerable.  In effect, you'll begin undoing the
damage that has been taking place likely for a very long
time.

You'll provide your body with the full Omega-3 support you
may have been missing your entire life-and the result will
be enhanced health, comfort, and vitality for the rest of
your life.

PS:  Equally important to getting enough EFA's is making
sure you get proper nutrients from your foods.  The Great
Taste No Pain manuals will show you exactly what foods to
concentrate on (and which ones to avoid) as well as how to
combine your meals to prevent overproduction of acid and
enhance nutrient absorption.  It's simple and, as the name
implies, tastes great.  Check it out here at:
