I'd like to share with you a question I received
yesterday, because I'm sure MANY of you have had an
experience like Nancy's.
Here's what she writes:
*******************
Sherry,
I am wondering if your Great Taste No Pain plan or your
probiotic supplements can help me.
I have been told I have GERD and hiatal hernia, and had
taken the purple pill for years. Last year I quit the pill
and have been trying to get my pH balanced so my meals are
less acidic and more alkaline. Your stories have helped me
a lot to be aware of pH balance.
This morning I was eating my steel cut oats which has
banana, blueberries, raisins, kefir and flax seed oil in
them so they were quite smooth.
All of a sudden when I swallowed, I felt a deep, heavy,
hard lump-like pain behind my breast bone in middle of my
chest. My bite was not large. Just to swallow water was
painful. After about 15 minutes of just taking tiny sips
of water the pain stopped.
The "lump" almost felt like a constriction in middle of my
chest, but it only hurt when I swallowed and the pain did
not go away quickly, but slowly...
I am not sure of going back to the doctor because all they
do is give me the purple pill or try to get me to take a
test in the hospital for looking into my esophagus. I may
have to do that later...if nothing else works.
Trying to learn how to eat ph balanced meals is not easy
for I am not educated in chemistry of foods, and not
familiar with them either.
I do not want to return to the purple pill which I have
been off of for a few months completely, but now and then
the pain returns.
If Great Taste No Pain has menu guidance practical for a
single person and who is not able to cook much, I would be
interested in getting it.
So what I am asking you is, do you really think your book
or supplements would help me?
Please if you can, advise me.
Thank you kindly,
Nancy D.

SB: The answer to Nancy's question is yes, the straight-
forward advice given in Great Taste No Pain can help with
her GERD and the hiatal hernia. And the bacterial variety
and the strength of those bacteria in Super Shield can be a
dramatic help. Here's why:
The cause of GERD
==============
Simply put, GERD comes from digestive acids in the stomach
rising up into the esophagus which burns like holy hell and
can create ulcers -- holes, actually -- in the esophagus.
A hiatal hernia makes it difficult to keep these acids from
rising up.
In addition to the hiatal hernia, the number one cause of
these acids rising up is a diet that includes too much
processed foods and meal combinations that take too much
acid to digest.
This puts a tremendous stress on your entire digestive
system.
Your stomach can only do what it's designed to do--secrete
acid--trying to break down foods that should not be eaten
together, or at all. It can secrete acid continually for 8-
10 hours or more.
That excess acid can easily glide up into your throat and
BINGO--you have GERD.
Now, Nancy certainly didn't know this, but the breakfast
she described above is an extremely acid-forming
combination of foods and was most likely the reason her
GERD flared up like it did. Many GERD sufferers have
described feeling a "lump" in their throat or chest like
that.
Nancy won't hear this from her doctor because doctors are
not trained in nutrition or the effect of diet on health.
Therefore, they can't appreciate and recommend something
they don't know about.
Also, since they ARE trained in drugs, tests and surgery
(and that's how they derive their income), that is what
they will suggest. Period. Curing people doesn't pay the
bills. When people don't have medical problems, they don't
visit (and don't need to pay) doctors.
Nancy proved that to herself when she said she hesitated
to go to the doctor because it would just mean tests and
purple pills.

How does Super Shield fit in?
========================
Having a healthy intestinal flora balance like you can get
with Super Shield is just as important as eating right
because diet and intestinal flora work together and affect
each other.
Here's how:
There are two kinds of bacteria in your intestines--
beneficial ones (probiotics) and harmful ones.
Probiotics help keep your digestion smooth, they support
your intestinal walls and strengthen your immune system.
Harmful bacteria, on the other hand, lead to or worsen
digestive problems. They also weaken your immune system
and make you susceptible to infections of all kinds.
So a healthy population of probiotics in your gut will
enhance the digestive improvements you achieve with Great
Taste No Pain. Your foods will be broken down in the
stomach easier, and with the help of probiotics will glide
through the intestines much easier too.
Plus the healthy, alkalizing foods you will eat when you
follow Great Taste No Pain will feed the probiotic bacteria
in your intestines...and help starve out the harmful
bacteria.
(Acid-forming, miscombined foods, on the other hand, feed
the harmful bacteria and allow them to grow out of control.)
So you can see that diet and probiotics go hand in hand
and both are extremely important.
PS: Great Taste No Pain may have saved this guy's life:
*******************
Sherry,
A good friend of mine started your program because he had
pre-cancerous esophagus disease as a result of years of
acid reflux and continual prescription antacid medication.
His acid reflux was immediately gone, and he amazingly
dropped 35 # in 45 days!
Thing is, he claims he eats the same portions as always,
just watches what he eats together. It's pretty amazing
and I think you may have saved his life.
My wife and I have both started up too and want to thank
you for what is truly life changing and really so simple
and obvious.
