A Mile In The Shoes of a Colitis Sufferer
Let's play an "imagine it" game for a moment.
Imagine you wake each morning wondering if an attack will
occur today without warning.
By "attack" I mean sudden, painful, explosive diarrhea,
possibly with bleeding.
If it happens, where will you be? At work? In the car?
In a store? Wherever it is, you'll need to find a bathroom-
-FAST.
Sometimes you don't even want to leave the house, and
forget trying to socialize with friends--the attacks have
become too embarrassing.
And you might be on the verge of losing your job (and your
health insurance!) because you've called in sick so much.
You feel depressed at your lack of quality of life.
Welcome to the world of someone with ulcerative colitis.
OK, game over.
Ulcerative colitis affects about 750,000 Americans and
hundreds of thousands of others worldwide. It's an
autoimmune condition, meaning your immune system gets mixed
up and declares war on the healthy tissues in your colon,
leading to the sores I just described.
Even more depressing than the condition itself are the
typical treatment options.
Standard treatments for colitis include anti-inflammatory
drugs, especially prednisone (a corticosteroid). While
they can bring some temporary relief, the consequences can
be disastrous.
If used for a long period of time, corticosteroids can
lead to Cushing's syndrome -- which causes water retention,
weight gain and a puffy, swollen appearance. (If you've
seen a recent picture of the actress Kathleen Turner,
that's Cushing's in action.)
Other effects of steroids include muscle weakness, fragile
bones, high blood sugar, fatigue and mood swings.
Imagine those problems on TOP of all the agony from colitis.
But wait, there's more from big pharma's offerings!
Antibiotics are sometimes prescribed for colitis -- with
limited benefit. There may be some improvement in the
symptoms, but they come right back once the course of
antibiotics is done.
Plus antibiotics throw your intestinal environment
completely out of whack and encourage harmful bacteria to
grow out of control (which makes colitis symptoms even
WORSE!).
The most severe treatment for colitis is surgery (partial
or complete removal of the colon). But that's even not a
cure because the colitis can recur somewhere else in the
intestines.
Plus you run the risk of having to wear a bag on your side
to collect your wastes for the rest of your life (aka a
colostomy). Imagine pouring water into a hole in your side
every day just to have a bowel movement.
Knowing all this, colitis sufferers often feel hopeless.
Like the man I recently spent an hour with who cried
uncontrollably when describing to me his symptoms and the
ordeal he's been put through by one doctor after another.
The good news is, if you have colitis, probiotics offer
hope...
Possibly your only hope.
In fact, recent studies show that a combination of
probiotics can help alleviate colitis symptoms quickly
without any side effects whatsoever.
Isn't THAT music to a colitis sufferer's ears.
The bacteria cited in the research include these strains:
- Lactobacillus casei
- Lactobacillus plantarum
- Lactobacillus acidophilus
- Lactobacillus bulgaricus
- Bifidobacteria longum
- Bifidobacteria breve
- Bifidobacteria infantis and
- Streptococcus thermophilus
One study conducted in the UK gave a group of colitis
patients just one probiotic strain, Bifidobacteria longum,
for 30 days, while another group received a placebo.
After the 30 days, the probiotic group showed a
significant reduction in inflammation, while the placebo
group continued to suffer with pain, bleeding and diarrhea.
Super Shield has them ALL those strains
==============================
Here's even better news for colitis sufferers: Every one
of the bacteria listed above that has been helpful for
colitis is in the medical grade probiotic formula, Super
Shield.

In fact, it has ALL of those beneficial bacteria above
(plus 5 MORE potent medical-grade strains).
So if you or someone you love has colitis or Crohn's (or
any other digestive challenge), they need to take a high
quality probiotic. It's not really a question of if they
should. It's a necessity. And why high quality? Go to
this page to learn why:

This page explains in detail, just what you really get in
most probiotic products.
YOU need to be an informed consumer.
Because what you DON'T know can hurt you, and what you DO
know can help you.
A little knowledge can go a long way.

PS: It's important for people with ANY digestive
challenge to eat foods that are alkalizing and easily
digested. That will help wastes to move through the colon
easier, and prevent irritation to the sores of colitis.

this can be. Learn more about Great Taste No Pain here at:
