I'd like to introduce you to a body part you probably
don't know much about...your pancreas.
The humble pancreas is a gland that sits tucked behind
your stomach. It isn't in the spotlight like your stomach
or intestines are, but if it didn't do its job, you'd be in
big trouble.
Here's what I mean:
Natural antacid
===========
Once you've eaten a meal and your stomach has pre-digested
everything, your pancreas secretes a substance (similar to
baking soda) that neutralizes the acid in the blob of
chewed-up food (chyme).
That's your body's natural "anti-acid-reflux" mechanism.
But it doesn't work if the foods you eat are so extremely
hard to digest that your stomach spends hours over-
secreting acid.
Unfortunately, most people eat combinations of foods that
cause the stomach to do exactly this. So instead of their
bodies naturally neutralizing acid as the food moves down
the digestive path, within an hour they're in such pain,
they need a Tums or Rolaids.
The enzymes you need--but supplies are limited
======================================
Once your food blob (chyme) moves from your stomach into
the upper part of your small intestine, the pancreas
secretes 9 other enzymes that break down the various foods
you might have eaten -- protein, sugars, starches and fats.
Your pancreas is brilliant--it knows exactly how much you
need of each enzyme depending on what you ate and like a
master chef, it puts all the right ingredients into the
mix.
But the problem is that your body has a limited supply of
pancreatic enzymes, and when they're gone, that's it...
...As in, for the rest of your life.
When your body runs out of digestive enzymes to break down
your foods, you'll have nutrient deficiencies, toxin build-
up, constipation, diarrhea, inflammation and disease.
What most people don't realize is that fresh foods (fruits
and vegetables) have their OWN enzymes built right in.
When your food has its own enzymes, your pancreas doesn't
need to supply them -- and your pancreas gets a break and
conserves your limited supply of precious enzymes.
But most people eating a typical diet eat lots of "dead
food"--burgers, fries, pizza, processed junk, etc. --
nothing that even resembles fresh food.
So your pancreas has to do ALL the work and use up LOTS of
its enzymes, day in and day out.
This is a very, VERY serious situation.
Diabetes and pancreatitis
====================
Your pancreas also secretes insulin, which is a hormone
that tells your cells to absorb sugar (glucose) from your
bloodstream and use it for energy.
When you eat a healthy variety of foods this system works
like a charm. There's just the right amount of glucose for
your cells.
But the typical Western diet is LOADED with refined carbs
(pasta, cookies, white bread, white rice, cake, snack
chips, etc.).
That leads to TONS of glucose in your bloodstream.
And that means your pancreas needs to work in maximum
overdrive secreting insulin.
Two things can happen here:
1- Your pancreas eventually can't keep up with the insulin
demand OR
2- Your cells start to ignore the signal.
Either way, my friend, you end up with Type II diabetes
(and likely obesity too).
It can also lead to pancreatitis -- a painful inflammation
that causes vomiting, drops in weight and can even lead
to death.
How to take care of your pancreas
==========================
Think about it -- with all that the pancreas does for your
body, it's no wonder that 9 out of ten people who get
pancreatic cancer die. Patrick Swayze had pancreatic
cancer.
So it's essential to take care of yours. Your health and
possibly you life may just depend upon it.
More so than any other organ or gland in your body, your
pancreas is VERY sensitive to an acid pH in your body. It
MUST have an alkaline environment to function correctly.
Great Taste No Pain is not a diet -- it's a simple set of
principles that, among other things, reduce the risk of
getting diabetes, and keeps your pancreas working fine.

Dear Sherry:
I have had acid reflux now for a great number of years.
My doctor prescribed Zantac which worked for a while, but
this year while on holiday things got really bad. No
matter what I ate I felt ill.
My husband said it was like living with a frog because of
my constant burping. I did not want to go back to my
doctor for stronger pills that would probably not work.
So I looked on the internet and found your Great Taste No
Pain plan. But I was skeptical. I even tried to find out
if you were on any scam lists--sorry but I just had to be
sure.
Well let me tell you Sherry there are only good things
said about you!
Still with my husband out of work I was not sure. So I
went to the local library to find out what eating this way
was all about. I found a little bit about it and gave it a
try.
It seemed to help, but I needed more information. So my
husband agreed I should send for your plan.
Well its been 6 weeks now and I can't believe the
difference. No heartburn and no burping.
This frog has turned into a princess!
I really can't tell you how much I appreciate someone who
really cares about people and who is genuine. Thank you a
thousand times.
