I don't have a lot of time for TV, but I gotta say that I
do love a funny movie and humorous commercials that make
fun of everyday life.
There have been a LOT of funny commercials for diarrhea
medicines. I remember one where it showed a guy having a
diarrhea attack while commuting to the office with his
coworkers. They had to make a bunch of stops at gas
stations along the way and he would fly into the bathroom,
squeezing his legs together as he moved. That was
hysterical.
But in truth, diarrhea is no laughing matter.
Everyone has acute diarrhea once in a while, usually
lasting a day or two. Acute diarrhea is typically caused
by a bacterial or viral infection of some type. Traveler's
diarrhea and a "stomach bug" are good examples.
In those cases, the diarrhea is actually a good thing
because it means your body is purging itself of the
"foreign invader" and protecting you.
But chronic diarrhea is a different story.
Chronic diarrhea is diarrhea lasting more than a few days
or occurring on a regular basis. You might also develop
bloating, bloody stools, fever, dehydration or hemorrhoids
with it.
It's your body's way of saying something is very, very
wrong. It can be a symptom of an underlying condition like
Crohn's disease, Celiac disease or colitis.
But by far the most common cause of chronic diarrhea is
the food you eat.
When you eat foods that are acid-forming to your body, you
put your entire digestive tract into a stressed state.
Your stomach churns and secretes tons of acid trying to
digest what you've just swallowed, but since it's so
difficult to break down those kinds of foods, it can't do a
good job.
Then your small intestine tries like heck to finish
digestion and absorb nutrients from the acidy mess it just
inherited from your stomach, but the nutrients (if any)
have been destroyed.
Then, by the time your wastes reach the colon (large
intestine) they are loaded with toxins and not broken down
like they should be. So of course you can't expect the
"grand finale" of digestion--your bowel movement--to be
normal.
That would be like wiping your windows with cooking oil
and then expecting to see out of them. Not gonna happen.
To keep things running smoothly at the bottom, you have to
start at the top (what you put in your mouth).
That means if you want to get rid of chronic diarrhea, you
must eat foods that are alkalizing to your body, and make
sure that all of your foods are correctly combined to
further minimize acid.
I'll show you the "ins and outs" you'll need to know to
keep diarrhea a distant memory. Don't worry--it's easy and
I spell everything out for you in the clearest instruction
possible. The way I teach it, you'd have to be pretty thick
to mess it up.
Plus I'll show you exactly which foods are alkalizing to
your body, and even give you suggestions on what other
foods "play nice" with your favorite foods in order to keep
your tummy happy.

PPS: Karen's 15 years of diarrhea have disappeared:
********
Hi Sherry,
I have had diarrhea for about 15 years. I have been to
many doctors with no success & was diagnosed with IBS and
Microscopic Colitis. I was given a prescription to bind
the bile in my colon & told to take Citrucil each evening.
After the prescription increased to $700.00 for 3 months
(plus, it didn't really help that much), I said enough is
enough.
After using your Great Taste No Pain plan, I had relief
after 1 day. I faithfully followed it for 2 weeks and I
guess I felt so much better, I then began to go off the
plan somewhat. After the diarrhea returned with a
vengeance, I'm now devoted to following your plan 100%!
My poor husband has endured trying to find me a bathroom
so many times in the past, I can't count. He was ready to
fly me to Mayo Clinic for help as we were desperate.
This has been an answer to our prayers. The recipes I've
made, we love. Thank you for the cookbook too--it really
helps.
