On Saturday I got a very important, almost desperate
emailed question about a concern that, sadly, is applying
to growing numbers of people:
*******************
Hi Sherry Brescia:
My triglycerides are very high--over 500. Any suggestions
on how to lower them? I need your help.
Russ

SB: Yes, Russ, I can help you. Let me explain a bit
about triglycerides and then show you a couple safe,
natural, effective measures you can take to get those
numbers down.
The first think to understand is that triglycerides are
your body's main type of fat and they circulate in your
blood and they're also the primary form in which your
body stores energy for future use and serve several crucial
functions.
So, like cholesterol, triglycerides are not the demons
that people think they are. You NEED them.
Trouble is, most people have WAY too many. So many, in
fact, that we truly have a worldwide health epidemic on our
hands.
Dangers of excess triglycerides & an apple figure
==================================
High blood levels of triglycerides increase your risk of
heart disease by building up and damaging your arterial
walls.
The danger is similar to not changing the oil in your car.
When neglected, both human blood and engine oil get thick,
which makes the heart (or engine) work harder to pump the
fluid. The fluid also drags along excess debris and forms
nasty deposits, which eventually cause a breakdown.
A car engine will overheat and burn up.
In humans, the end result is a heart attack or a stroke.
And it's especially risky for people with an "apple
figure" (having excess weight around their middle).
For men with diabetes and the apple figure, the risk for
heart disease goes up two and a half times. For women with
diabetes and this shape, heart disease risk rises eight
times.
THAT is something you need to take seriously.
Here's why it happens:
Fat cells located in the abdomen release fat into the
blood more easily than fat cells found elsewhere in your
body. Release of fat begins just 3 to 4 hours after you
eat, compared to many more hours for other fat cells.
This easy release shows up as higher triglyceride levels.
How triglycerides get too high
========================
Although the most common cause of high triglycerides is
diet (more on that below), there are also a multitude of
other causes and contributing factors including:
* Obesity
* Type 2 diabetes or insulin resistance
* Prolonged stress and/or depression
* Heavy caffeine use
* Smoking cigarettes
* Alcohol abuse - heavy drinking or alcoholism
* Lack of exercise
* Chronic liver disease or kidney damage
* Pancreatitis--infection of the pancreas
* Kidney dialysis
* Underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism)
* Cystic fibrosis
* Lupus
* Gout
* Cushing's syndrome
* Estrogens like "the pill" or hormone replacement therapy
(HRT) such as Premarin
* Corticosteroids like Hydrocortisone, Prednisolone and
Prednisone
* Beta-blockers - used to treat high blood pressure and
coronary artery disease
* Diuretics - also known as water pills
* Tamoxifen - the drug treatment for women recovering from
breast cancer
* Accutane - a powerful drug used in the treatment of acne
* Quinapril (Accupril) - an antihypertensive (blood
pressure lowering agent)
* Mirtazapine - an antidepressant
* Cancer
But far and away, THE leading cause of elevated
triglycerides is...
...Eating lots of refined carbohydrates such as white
flour, processed grains, sweets, and other sugar-containing
foods...
PLUS
Eating too many sticky, saturated fats...
AND
Having too few antioxidants in your system.
The great news is there are two very effective measures
you can take to help bring that triglyceride number down to
a healthy level---without dangerous and expensive drugs.
Step 1- Enjoy a diet rich in REAL foods.
=============================
Since the primary cause of high triglycerides is diet, you
can't expect to reduce them without changing what you put
in your mouth.
Tain't gonna happen.
That's like a smoker who wants to prevent cancer and
emphysema but won't stop smoking.
The great news is that eating real foods (not processed
"food-like" stuff) that are rich in antioxidants and low in
saturated fats can be easy to do and taste unbelievably
great.
I say cheap because just when you have high triglycerides,
you are used to spending a TON of dough on managing it.
Arn'tcha?
Well, those expensive days can be over FAST.
All you need to do is follow my advice in Great Taste No
Pain and you'll radically lower your triglycerides no
matter what other factors listed above may be involved.
The Great Taste No Pain manuals teach you how to create
low acid, easy to digest meals that help keep your
triglycerides (and cholesterol) low.
And the meals in the recipe section are simply divine.
They taste so good, you'll think you're eating "bad for
you" foods, but you're not!
Step 2- Supplement with omega-3 essential fatty acids.
=============================================
This is essential because Omega-3 EFAs can safely lower
blood triglyceride levels by up to 65%!
Studies have shown that people who maintain a rich supply
of omega-3 EFAs remain free of cardiovascular disease and
other degenerative conditions far longer than those who
don't.
That means you'll feel great even if you're as old as the
hills.
Use both Great Taste No Pain and VitalMega-3, and when you
get your triglycerides retested, let me know how far YOUR
numbers have come down.
I'll be waiting to hear from you.
To your health,
Sherry Brescia
