It's finally happened.
And it's about time.
It appears that our society (including the mainstream medical profession) has finally accepted the dire importance of having healthy gut flora. It's now recognized as playing a crucial role in your digestion, your immune system and really, your overall health.
Even the food manufacturers know this and have jumped on the bandwagon--that's why you're seeing more and more types of probiotic-laced yogurts on store shelves.
Knowing the importance of properly balanced gut flora is STEP ONE.
But the next step is determining if you've got a problem with your gut flora to begin with.
Some of our clients have asked if there is a test they can have done to examine their intestinal flora balance.
The answer: Yes, there is, but it's not necessarily the best idea.
Here's what I mean:
The fickle feces test
Many companies offer tests that claim to analyze your intestinal flora balance. Labs that do this can be found online or in health-related publications. The tests can run into several hundred dollars.
When you get the test kit, you follow the instructions for obtaining a sample of your feces and send it in for analysis. The report you get back typically includes an analysis of the types of bacteria and yeasts found in your "poop" sample.
But it's important to understand that tests like this cannot provide a complete overview of your intestinal flora. Many of the bacteria in your gut require complex procedures to be cultured successfully -- a stool sample doesn't cut it.
Also, many of your intestinal flora die once they travel out your "back door." So, the feces tests can be very misleading because there's no way to capture how many beneficial bacteria may have died upon exiting your body.
What should you do instead?
LISTEN to your body.
If you feel great, energetic all the time, rarely get sick, resist contagious illnesses and feel upbeat emotionally, chances are excellent that your intestinal flora are pretty close to being in a good balance (at least 85% beneficial and 15% or less harmful bacteria).
But if you're like many people and can say yes to some of these signs, it's very likely that your gut microbes are out of balance and you need to get them more "on track":
- Frequent headaches or migraines
- Fatigue, tiredness, sluggishness
- Constipation and/or diarrhea
- Anal itching
- Frequent colds, flu and viruses
- Repeated urinary tract infections or yeast infections
- High cholesterol
- Bad breath
- Diagnosed with irregular cell growth
- Worsening asthma and/or allergy symptoms
- Gas, bloating and cramps
- Skin rashes, psoriasis, acne or eczema
If any of those sound like you, it is very likely your gut flora are a cause or contributing factor.
Turn it around easily -- without eating boatloads of yogurt
Many people falsely think yogurt can help encourage healthy flora balance.
Well, it's a start, but the typical container of yogurt doesn't contain even close to the number of cultures or the variety of strains needed to effectively reverse a serious gut flora imbalance. There are no therapeutic doses of probiotics in yogurt. It's all smoke and mirrors marketing employed to get the public to believe it...and it's making money for yogurt manufacturers...
But it's not helping the consumer much.
In order to help bring about a healthier ratio of intestinal flora faster and easier, supplementation is the only way to do it.
A high quality probiotic supplement like Super Shield Multi-Strain Probiotic Formula was designed specifically to help turn an imbalance around for you fast and get you on the road to better health.
Super Shield contains a huge variety of strains (13 of them!) that each have their own unique "specialty" in how they help improve digestion, strengthen your immune system and enhance your overall health from head to toe.
Super Shield's army of friendly bacteria can help reverse any existing flora imbalance you have, and also help you maintain a good balance for life.
And if you're on medications like antacids or antibiotics, it's extremely important to take probiotics, as these drugs can cause a serious flora imbalance if left unchecked, leading to those symptoms listed above.
Listen to your body NOW and give it what it needs.
To your health,
