I've just returned
from one of the best vacations I've ever had --
a Caribbean cruise.
Scuba diving and
swimming in St. Maarten was the BEST.
A catamaran tour
around St. Thomas and St. John was breathtaking.
Shopping till we
dropped in the Bahamas.
Tropical cocktails
while lounging on the pool deck.
And as you can expect
on most any cruise, lots and lots of delicious food EVERYWHERE
you looked.
But the best part of
all is this -- I didn't gain an ounce!
That's right.
I returned home at
the exact same weight as when I left. And I even had a rich,
delicious chocolate dessert on three of the seven days!
Huh?
Yes indeed. It CAN be
done.
And if I can do it,
so can YOU.
You see, maintaining
your weight can be effortless -- not only on vacation but also
throughout the holidays and 12 months a year.
It's a matter of
principles, my friend.
If you live your life
abiding by a few simple but important principles, you can count
on ALL the clothes in your closet fitting you this year and the
next and the next...
And you looking great
in them, too.
So without further
ado, here are the...
3 keys to
maintaining your weight 12 months a year
1)
Move your butt
There's no other way
to put it. If you have any hopes of preventing
widening-of-the-butt, you must move it.
Pick an activity you
like or at least will tolerate and DO IT 3-4 times a week. Even
brisk walking is fine and you can do that practically anywhere.
Now, don't make
excuses because you're traveling. In the Virgin Islands I was
1,824 miles from the karate dojo where I usually work out, so I
ran on the ship's running track instead. You can ALWAYS find a
way to exercise if you want to.
2) Eat REAL foods
At least half and
preferably 75-80% of what you eat should be real foods.
Real foods include
fresh fruits, raw or lightly cooked vegetables, lean meats and
poultry, fish, whole grains and essential fats.
When you eat real
foods like these, your body gets nourished the way it needs to
be.
And when you're
nourished, these wonderful things happen:
- You get full faster
and eat less overall.
- The foods you're
eating are inherently lower in calories than pizza, burgers,
fries, chips or whatever other nutritionally dead foods you may
have eaten in the past.
- And because you're
actually nourished, you'll STAY full and satisfied longer, so
your chances of fat-forming late night snacking have just been
slashed.
All of this means:
You get lean and stay lean!
On my cruise I
allowed myself to indulge in some pretty rich foods -- I just
made sure to balance them out with enough salads, veggies and
fruit.
And that kept the
scale number right where it needs to be.
3)
Efficient digestion
This is by far the most important principle...
If your foods are not
being broken down like they should be, you're not getting the
maximum nutrition from them. And that causes feelings of hunger
which leads to overeating (and weight gain).
In addition, when
your digestion is poor, you will have waste buildup in your
colon which can also bump up that scale number. and you'll also
probably have constipation, gas, bloating and eventually
diverticulosis.
Attaining good
digestion is easy -- it's just is a matter of eating foods that
digest well together, and giving your body a little assistance
if needed.
