I've just returned
from an amazing vacation in Aruba -- one of my
favorite places in the whole world.
Snuba diving and
snorkeling on my 50th birthday was a blast--the whole boat sang
A Jeep tour of
Aruba's unchartered side was beautiful--we saw the Natural
Bridge, swam in the Natural Pool, admired the California
Lighthouse and reflected quietly in the Alto Vista Chapel.
We ate in some
outstanding local restaurants including El Gauchos, The Barefoot
And of course, we
enjoyed fruity frozen cocktails while lounging by the pool!
But the best part
of all is this--I didn't gain a single ounce!
I returned home at
the exact same weight as when I left. And I even had some
dessert on four of the seven days!
Yes indeed. It CAN

3 keys to maintaining your weight 12
months a year
1) Get your butt in motion
There's no other
way to put it. If you have any hopes of preventing
widening-of-the-butt, you MUST move it.
Pick an activity
you like or at least will tolerate and DO IT 3-4 times a week.
Even brisk walking is fine and you can do that practically
Now don't even try
to make excuses because you're traveling. In Aruba I was 2,146
miles from the karate dojo where I usually work out, so I ran on
the hotel's treadmills instead. You can ALWAYS find a way to
exercise if you want to.
2) Eat REAL foods
At least half and
preferably 75-80% of what you eat should be real foods.
Real foods include
fresh fruits, raw or lightly cooked vegetables, lean meats and
poultry, fish, whole grains and essential fats.
When you eat real
foods like these, your body gets nourished the way it needs to

- You get full
faster and end up eating less overall.
- The foods you're
eating are naturally lower in calories than pizza, burgers,
fries, chips or other nutritionally dead foods.

On my trip I
allowed myself to indulge in some pretty rich foods--I just made
sure to balance them out with enough salads, veggies and fruit.
And that kept the
scale number exactly where it always is.
3) Make sure digestion is efficient
This is by far the
most important principle of all.
If your foods are
not broken down properly, you're not getting the maximum
nutrition from them. This causes feelings of hunger which leads
to overeating (and weight gain).
In addition, when
your digestion is poor, wastes build up in your colon which can
bump up that scale number. It can also cause constipation, gas,
bloating and eventually diverticulosis.
