It is estimated
that at least 200 million people worldwide suffer from a
chronic condition that continues to baffle the medical
community...
..Fibromyalgia.
Their days consist
of pain. Everywhere -- in their back, neck, shoulders, hips and
more. The pain is often so bad it causes loss of sleep, so they
frequently have fatigue, too.
As if THAT wasn't
enough, people with fibromyalgia often suffer from Irritable
Bowel Syndrome.
And there's even
MORE.
Fibromyalgia
sufferers can also experience extreme sensitivity to touch,
migraines, bladder problems, temporomandibular joint problems (TMJ),
difficulty concentrating, dizziness, nasal congestion and
numbness or swelling in the hands or feet.
Many times they
have depression, too. With all that going on, it's no wonder.
Big Pharma's grim offerings
Since fibromyalgia
still remains somewhat of a mystery to today's mainstream
medical folks, the only solutions they can offer are drugs that
(are supposed to) address the symptoms.
Drugs like
anti-inflammatory drugs, antidepressants, anticonvulsants and
sleeping pills. Unbelievable.
One study showed
that 90% of people treated with anti-inflammatory drugs were
still symptomatic after 3 years! But does that stop docs from
prescribing them? Not too often.
And of course
that's not even considering the side effects from the drugs that
they've had to suffer with as well.
Long-term use of
anti-inflammatories can lead to gastritis and other GI problems
(on top of the IBS symptoms that many sufferers already have),
and sleeping pills (like Ambien) can cause drowsiness, stomach
upset, dependence, headaches, memory problems and even
hallucinations.
Antidepressants are no better. Some of the common effects of
antidepressants like Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, Lexapro, and Celexa
include:
- Nausea
- Nervousness
- Headaches
- Sleepiness
- Sexual dysfunction
- Dizziness
- Stomach upset
- Weight gain
Plus, the elevated
levels of serotonin caused by these drugs in some cases can
cause changes in your cell neurons that are classified as brain
damage!
And ALL
antidepressants are required by the FDA to carry a warning about
the risk of suicidal thoughts, hostility, and agitation.
Oh, and by the
way, on top of all that, you stand a great chance of STILL
hurting from head to toe from fibromyalgia.
The exciting news!
As bleak as
fibromyalgia may sound, there have been some exciting studies
and developments in the area of natural measures that SAFELY
address not only the symptoms of fibromyalgia but one of the
common underlying causes.
So here is the
exciting news (for a change) for fibromyalgia sufferers--things
that can actually help and NOT hurt:
1) Foods/substances that make
fibromyalgia worse
While these are no
"universal offenders," many people have been helped by avoiding
the following:
1- Aspartame (NutraSweet)
There's a pain
receptor in your nervous system known as NMDA, and when you get
chronic pain, this NMDA pain receptor is opened up. Aspartame
(which is considered an excitotoxin) helps to stimulate the
opening of this receptor, thereby encouraging pain.
2- Food additives like MSG (monosodium glutamate) and nitrates
Like aspartame,
MSG is classified as an excitotoxin and has the same potential
to affect NMDA receptors, as do nitrates (found in processed
meats like bologna, ham and bacon).
3- Refined carbohydrates (sugar, white flour, white rice)
These feed the
harmful bacteria in your gut which can make fibromyalgia-related
GI symptoms even worse. Plus, refined carbs can lead to acid
waste accumulation in your body and worsen inflammation and pain
(more on that below).
4- Caffeine
Caffeine can cause
an artificial energy boost for a while, but it's typically
followed by a crash--which can worsen the fatigue fibromyalgia
sufferers typically have.
5- Dairy
Like refined
carbs, dairy is an acid-forming food which can lead to worsening
inflammation.
6- Possibly nightshades
Although they are
very nutritious and offer health benefits, some people have
experienced flare-ups of inflammatory problems (like arthritis
and fibromyalgia) when they eat vegetables from the nightshade
family--including bell peppers, tomatoes and eggplant.
If you experience
a worsening in your symptoms from these vegetables, they are
best avoided.
2) Minimizing acid reduces fibromyalgia pain
When foods are
eaten that nourish your body and can be digested efficiently,
all of your systems, muscles, bones and joints are encouraged to
work like a well-oiled machine... Nutrients get absorbed and
transported by the bloodstream to where they need to go, keeping
all your organs and tissues healthy. Cellular waste products are
carted away. Oxygen-rich blood nourishes all your cells.
But when you
instead eat foods that create a large amount of acid
wastes...well, sickness and disease become your reality.
When acid creating
foods are eaten (and foods like this are ABUNDANT in our
"Standard American Diet" or SAD--interesting acronym), the acidy
residue from those foods doesn't just disappear once the food is
digested and you have a bowel movement.
No way -- it
sticks around and makes you sick instead.
Acid creating
foods make toxins--like poisons--in your body. These toxins can
get absorbed into your bloodstream from the intestines and from
there are carried all over your body where they encourage
inflammation and pain.
Your body tries to
defend itself against acid by dumping it into your urine, using
its own minerals (from your muscles and bones) to buffer it or
having your lymphatic system eliminate it.
But when there's a
consistent daily onslaught of acid from your food going in, your
body can reach the point where it can't keep up.
And toxins that
accumulate in your muscles and connective tissues can come out
as...
...Fibromyalgia.
So to fight (or
help prevent) fibromyalgia, it's essential to eat foods and
meals that are digested easily and minimize acid wastes.
And that is
precisely what I will teach you to do in the Great Taste No Pain
health system.
The Great Taste No
Pain guides will show you how to
eliminate acidity from your body by eating delicious,
nourishing foods in the combinations that make for easy
digestion and assimilation.
Now, this isn't a "diet" -- get that 4-letter word right out of
your head!
It's a VERY
satisfying and enjoyable eating lifestyle that works with how
your body digests foods and helps enhance the effectiveness of
your various digestive enzymes.
Foods and meals
that are alkalizing to your system and easy to digest help to
eliminate acid wastes and toxins.
And that means you
can help cut fibromyalgia right off at the source!
Plus, you can feel
the difference in many other ways too -- no more digestive
problems like IBS, heartburn or gas, more energy and everyone's
favorite--Iose excess weight without even TRYING!
If this
sounds good to you, then check it out here.
3) Balance Omega-6:3 ratio for fibromyalgia relief
The Omega-6 and Omega-3 essential fatty acids (EFAs) in your body work to
stir up and then reduce inflammation.
You see, Omega-6
EFAs activate your body's defense mechanisms like blood
clotting, inflammation and allergic reactions, and you need
those during emergencies like when you're injured or ingest
something dangerous.
Then when the
"emergency" is over, Omega-3 EFAs come in and cool down
inflammation, produce calmness in your nervous system and reduce
cholesterol and clotting in the blood.
This system works
perfectly as long as you have about a 5:1 ratio of
Omega-6:Omega-3 EFAs in your body.
But the typical
American takes in truckloads of inflammation-causing Omega-6
fatty acids in their acid-forming diets but not nearly enough
Omega-3s, causing our ratios to skyrocket to 10:1, 20:1, 30:1 or
more.
And we have the
inflammation (and fibromyalgia) to prove it!
But you can help
reduce inflammation and pain dramatically by replenishing your
Omega-3 supply with a high quality fish oil formula like VitalMega-3.
Just 2 capsules a
day gives you a full 1,000 mg. each of the necessary Omega-3 essential fatty acids
(known as EPA and DHA), which is the dose that has been
recommended by most experts in the field to help bring your
Omega EFAs into a more proper balance.
Fibromyalgia is a
horrible, painful disease that causes so much suffering to
millions...and if you're caught in the trap of taking
anti-inflammatories, sleeping pills and antidepressants, getting
no relief and feeling hopeless, I understand...
...and more
importantly, I can help.
See for yourself how much better you can feel when you avoid
certain offending foods, reduce acid wastes and toxins, and
balance your Omega-6 and 3 essential fatty acids to naturally
ease pain and inflammation.
And when you're
feeling better, write and tell me about it (like Janis did
below)! I'll look forward to hearing from you.
To your health,
Sherry Brescia
PS: Janis' symptoms have vanished and she's off Amitriptyline!
Sherry:
I want you to know that since I have been using Great Taste No
Pain, my Fibromyalgia symptoms have vanished and I no longer
take the prescription Amitriptyline! Have you ever heard of
those side effects?
I've had your books for over a year & love your recipes! I still
take all your supplements, too. At 75, I felt I needed them to
get started on my new healthy plan from you.
I really love your Recovery Soup, especially after I ate the
wrong foods at 2 big parties this year. I always have it ready
in case I eat the wrong way away from home.
You have saved my body from the effects of eating the wrong way!
My mind is at ease, finally! Hurray for Sherry!
Thank you my dear friend.
Love, Janis
