4 Keys to Reversing Heart Disease

In the classic movie "The Wizard of Oz," the Tin Man expresses his
longing for the one internal organ that the tinsmith failed to give him by
singing, "If I only had a heart..."

Maybe he ought to think twice...

Because according to the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), the top cause of death in the US continues to be heart disease, just ahead of cancer.

"Heart disease" includes coronary heart disease (CHD), coronary artery disease (CAD), heart attack (myocardial infarction), congestive heart failure and congenital heart disease.

But with the exception of congenital heart disease (meaning you're born with it), heart disease doesn't happen overnight.

It's created over time.

You see, the primary cause of heart disease is atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries). And that develops slowly, steadily, day after day and year after year.

But just as heart disease can be created, it can also be prevented...and even reversed.  That's right. You can reverse it.

Here's what you might not know, but must know, about heart disease and more importantly, 4 effective ways you can help keep it far away from YOU:

The creation of heart disease

There are actually five steps of heart disease creation:

Step 1: Artery wall damage occurs

Just like the paint on your house or your favorite pair of jeans, your arteries endure normal "wear and tear" and over time can sustain rips, abrasions and scratches.

High blood pressure can also cause damage to your artery walls due to the increased force of your blood being pumped through.

Step 2: Inflammation forms

Once an artery becomes damaged, your body's repair system (which is made up of platelets and white blood cells) comes to the rescue to promote healing...and part of that process includes stirring up inflammation.

But if artery damage is allowed to continue unchecked, pockets of inflammation can form in your arteries.

Step 3: Cholesterol accumulates

Inflammation pockets in your arteries are the ideal home for LDL cholesterol to get "stuck" and begin to accumulate.

Step 4: Plaque is created

Once large amounts of LDL cholesterol have collected along the walls of your arteries, you've graduated to plaque buildup and are at risk for partial or complete artery blockages.

Step 5: Artery blockage

When your coronary arteries become severely clogged with plaque, they begin to squeeze off the blood supply to your heart...and you become part of the statistic I quoted above.

How to stop heart disease before it stops you

Now, just because artery wall damage and plaque buildup may be quietly sneaking up on you doesn't mean there's nothing you can do to interrupt the process.

There's plenty.

In addition to the very obvious quitting smoking and getting regular exercise, here are four very effective things you can do to take good care of your ticker...and help it continue to take good care of YOU:

1) Get your Zzzzz's

Studies have shown that short sleep duration (under six hours a night) is a significant risk factor for stroke and cardiovascular disease.

Researchers from the University of Alabama at Birmingham published the result of a study in the American Academy of Sleep Medicine journal that cites how sleeping fewer than six hours each night increases the risk of stroke symptoms among middle-aged to older adults.

So, you Night Owls--if you can't live without the Late Show, make sure to tape it and watch it some other time. It may make the difference between a night's rest and "rest in peace!"

2) Get your C's

In addition to helping prevent colds, keeping your skin youthful-looking, beefing up your army of antioxidants and protecting against cataracts, Vitamin C also helps to prevent and reverse heart disease!

Some excellent food sources of this Vitamin dynamo include:

- Citrus fruits (grapefruit, oranges, lemons and limes)
- Cantaloupes
- Strawberries
- Cranberries
- Red and green bell peppers
- Potatoes
- Broccoli
- Brussels sprouts
- Tomatoes
- Asparagus
- Parsley
- Cabbage
- Sprouts
- Papayas
- Kale
- Mustard greens

3) Get your Omega-3's

Omega-3 fatty acids have shown to be an important tool to help fight heart disease in these 4 ways:

* They've been medically proven to help lower blood pressure. Studies show that daily fish oil supplementation alone can lower your systolic (the top number) pressure by five points or more and your diastolic (the bottom number) pressure by three points or more!

* Omega-3 fatty acids have anti-inflammatory properties, which may help counteract any inflammation you might have building up in your arteries.

* Omega-3 fatty acids help raise HDL cholesterol levels and lower LDL cholesterol, thereby helping to improve your HDL/LDL ratio.

* They also help keep blood clots from forming by reducing the stickiness in your platelets and curbing the production of fibrinogens--protein strands that can get tangled up with platelets and result in a clot.

Problem is, our food supply doesn't contain a fraction of the Omega-3 EFAs that it used to (thanks to processed foods and grain-fed animals). That means most people in developed countries are seriously lacking in this vital, heart-healthy nutrient.

So one of the best ways to help prevent heart problems is to take a very high-quality fish oil formula.

Like VitalMega-3.

The suggested 2-capsule daily serving packs a whopping 1,200 mg. of EPA, DHA and other Omega-3 fatty acids in the same pure, potent form you'd get directly from fish itself.

Plus, the oils in VitalMega-3 go through a distillation process that removes heavy metals like mercury and PCB's--so it can be far safer than eating lots of fish.

4) Keep your pH slightly alkaline and reduce acid wastes

Your heart was designed to function in a slightly alkaline environment.

Your heart pumps an astounding 13,000 quarts of blood a DAY! And acid wastes in that blood put a tremendous strain on it to move your blood around.

Plus, acid wastes in your system rob your blood of oxygen, which causes your heart tissue to deteriorate.

So it's essential to keep your pH as alkaline as possible and diminish the acid wastes flowing through your blood. Your life may quite literally depend on it.

The good news is that it's not difficult.

The Great Taste No Pain manuals will show you exactly what to do, step by simple step.

The GTNP manuals will teach you the simple principles of smart food pairing which will help prevent and reduce accumulation of acid wastes.

Plus, they'll tell you exactly which foods are inherently acid-waste creators and which are alkaline so there's no guesswork.

You'll also receive charts showing you what to pair with all of your favorite foods to make them easily digested, including meats, pastas, grains, dairy, bread and vegetables.

Eating for a more alkaline pH couldn't be easier...or better for your ticker!

Heart disease is certainly nothing to take lightly.

And the biggest mistake you can make is thinking that it can't happen to YOU.

It can. It didn't get to be the number one killer by affecting just a few people here and there.

And the next biggest mistake you can make is thinking there's nothing you can do about it.

As you can see up above, there's plenty you can do.

Start now...And you'll be just reading the statistics instead of becoming one.

To your health,

Sherry Brescia

PS: Carol's blood pressure is down 30 points and Scott's got a happier colon!

Dear Sherry:

My husband found your website and your plan following a trip to the hospital for emergency abdominal surgery for a ruptured colon and peritonitis. He came out with a colostomy.

During his recuperation, I began suffering from side effects from the cholesterol and blood pressure medications I was on. I was also suffering from acid reflux and taking Prilosec every day.

We started on your Great Taste No Pain program 3 days ago. Without any medication, my blood pressure has dropped 30 points; I have Iost 3 pounds, and have not needed to take any medication for acid reflux! In fact, I can sleep on my stomach without even waking up during the night!

My husband has seen a marked improvement in the way he feels, his energy level is returning and his intestines seem happier than they were before the colostomy. (Luckily it is reversible, and he's hoping to have the surgery done sooner now that he's healing faster!)

Thank you for simple, easy to follow methods. We intend to continue to live pain free!

Scott and Carol
